My flower bed is overrun with wild onion. it would take a couple of weeks to pull by hand. is there a way to get rid of it or would it be better to pull the perennials and then kill it. largely hostas , daylillies and shrubs.
Agree. There is no herbicide that can kill any type of wild onion among your other perennials. Even if you remove your desired plants, herbicidal killing will take multiple applications and maybe multiple years.
Your first plan of action should be to never let them go to seed. Wild onion species rarely pull out easily; you need the help of a trowel to remove the bulb.

Even after digging you will always miss a root or bublet so it will keep coming back. But by digging it every year and not letting it go to seed you can get the population down quite a bit.

The wild onions in my yard have very tasty foliage. Indistinguishable from chives.
