Thank you for telling us about it Margaret. It truly is lovely & I love the second photo of it too. It seems too pretty to be real. Also I'm really glad you talked about the barbed seeds. For this reason I will not even look it up to see if I could grow it way down here. Don't need any trips to the vet & my dog has a Hoover nose so we would surely have barbs in the nose or worse.

Thank you Sandi! You should see it in person the way it waves and moves in the wind, it truly is a lovely plant. First year we lived here I was so in love with it I cut a big bunch and brought it home, put it in a vase without water so that it would dry, it worked great, only thing was several months later it started to explode all over the place, it was like the seeds were alive, really difficult to grab them, finally I got a large plastic bag and just dumped the whole thing in and quickly closed it.

Good story, Margaret! I do that with Pride of Barbados seed pods every fall. Pull them off the bushes at my daughter's, then forget to take them out of the car. As the pods dry, the burst open and throw large seeds everywhere in the car. I wonder if I could use that as a defense if I rear end another car? "But, officer, I heard popping sounds and thought I was being attacked by large flying bugs coming at me from all directions when I hit that car in front of me!"
