Anette: I googled your Globmaster no bloom problem and couldnt find much.
They need full sun.
Whose bulbs did you buy?
Were thay planted too deep?
Google the allium and watch the White Flower Farm video.

A kilo bulb means 1000 bulbs.
Most of us do not plant that many.
Even 6, or half a dozen, is a cheery addition to a garden in spring.

Hi Marilyn, a kilobulb gardener is someone who plants over 1000 bulbs in a season. It is a huge undertaking, but I get it done gradually over several weeks during the fall and winter. It makes for an amazing spring with several weeks of the different varieties of bulbs blooming.

Jo Ann, I've ordered the most recent Alliums from the Netherland Bulb Co. I've also gotten them locally form our garden centers here.

My present bulbs are planted on my hill behind irises Batik and Immortality, in full sun. I'll have to make sure that they get some Bulb Food this year.

I just started alliums fall 2011 and had them the next spring.
I was always under the impression they multiplied and could become a nuisance, that is some varieties.
I planted Silver Spring fall of 2011 also #5 bulbs, all came up and were green leaved all that winter, all bloomed Spring of 2012 but this spring there were some missing ( maybe 2 ) I dont know what happened to the supposed increase,I sure didnt see it.The Silver Springs are expensive or I would rep;lant as they look so great with Iris Creative Accent and allium Purple Perfection.

I like to plant 3 or 4 bulbs per hole for a natural look sprinkled in the garden, and didnt realize the Purple Sensations would put up more than one stem per bulb.

Good to know about those Purple Sensations... We ordered them in the bulb buy, but I skipped them. I'll have to get some (another year!). My alliums haven't perennialized well for me, but I'm trying again with some A. christophii.

Jill. I have luck with the short big leaved Karavantense ( sp ) These are short and have come back 4 years,no multiplying but thats OK I am a crammed garden look gardener anyway. Not much room for expanding and multiplying here.
They are in this garden

I also grow Drumsticks which do increase if not deadheaded

No problems w/ Alliums here. Not much increase either, but good seasonal appearances, especially the tall ones.

Marilyn, you have some pretty bulbs. I like Chionodoxa, I am planting 500 Chionodoxa Sardensis this fall. Love those pretty little blue flowers in the spring.

I did plant some today, but mainly I spent time on "fixing" areas I planted yesterday and destroyed the grass at. But I also "fixed" the areas I planted today and dig up grass. So was scratching up dirt off grass and leveling for planting, then putting grass seed.
Thumb of 2013-10-21/Newyorkrita/819532
This was one of the areas planted yesterday. It now has crocus and chionodoxa. It already looks better and after the grass starts to grow will look fine.

Thumb of 2013-10-21/Newyorkrita/5c9b36
Here is another area I did in the plant crocus and chionodoxa method. It is the edge of a grassy path between the flower bed and the end of one of my tomato beds. Watered and glass seed spread. Looks like a mess now but will look great in the spring with the little bulbs coming thru the lawn.

Thumb of 2013-10-21/Newyorkrita/c5fb1c
And on the other side of my house, another area in my creating little pockets of crocus and chionodoxa. There are crocus in back and chionodoxa towards the front. I am not sure if doing it this way instead of just stabbing with my soil knife and dropping bulbs in method is better or not. It does allow me to have a better placement of the bulb groupings but makes a bigger mess. But I already put grass seed out and once the grass sprouts, it will look fine. In spring it will look better than fine.
