ooh, 'Capree Elizabeth' was one of our "must haves" from B&B this year. I just came across some photos of 'Chromacolor' from the 2011 Philly Flower Show, and they do look like a strong and fairly "true" pink.

Have to keep planting, because I've told myself I can only order more bulbs from end of season sales IF I have mine planted by then! LOL, might make an exception for "little bulbs" that can go in with the big ones...

Thumbs up Hurray! Hurray Marilyn.

I think Capree Elizabeth is just lovely. And those Chionodoxa are such pretty little blue flowers. But they ARE small.

Marilyn, the Bastogne are beautiful. I truely love them. But they are Triumph tulips and Triumph class tulips never return for me. So if I want them again, I have to replant. But then each garden is different so maybe you will have better luck on the return than I did. Darwins return better but then that is hit and miss also. One that does return really well of the Darwin Class is Big Chief. A beautiful large flowered tulip with strong return.

They are mostly sold out now but this year Scheepers added all sorts of new Greigii class tulips. Ones that are taller and from the pictures look Stunning. The best part is that Greigii class tulips return.

Fining classes of tulips that will be truly perennial has turned out to be a very good thing for me as I have been able to plant more tulips than ever before this year. I LOVE tulips. But having to replant everything each year is just impossible. So I have been branching out to new to me classes of tulips. Not that I gave up my "fancy" tulips that I always love to plant. I always do some of them also.

Thanks for the info Rita! I tip my hat to you. I knew Triumph didn't return, but wanted to see what they looked like for myself. I almost bought the Big Chief.

I didn't know Darwins were a hit and miss. I thought they all returned.

Some are really good at returning like Big Chief. Others return forever. I have some old darwins here for 20 years. But many return but dwindle in numbers. So first spring lovely, all the tulips, second spring still good but not as many, third spring poor showing and you have better replant of you want it took look like it did in year one. That has been the cycle for me for years.

Here is my grassy slope that is by my driveway. I am putting species crocus in there. Take my soil knife, stab and twist. Then drop 3 bulbs in and pat down. It should look fabulous come spring with hundreds of crocus in this one area.

Don't you have to worry about the critters getting the crocus?

It will look great next Spring!

The only thing that might dig them up here are squirrels. Usually they don't bother my bulbs. Last fall they did dig up some crocus in my southside rose garden. This year I immediately mulched so that they didn't realized that the ground was planted in. Hopefully they don't catch on that that slope is planted in bulbs. So far they have not bothered any of my crocus that I have been planting in trenches around my veggie garden beds. The deep stuff, like tulips is always fine.

Lots of raised beds or terraces here. This is my big raised backyard daylily bed that I call the plateau.

This morning it was sunny, got cloudy, now sprinkles. So will have to get back to my project of adding more bulbs here that I was working on.

There are no daffodils in the actual plateau. I do have daffs all over but not there. I am loading it just chock full of tulips. I had some in there this spring and it looked so nice so of course I decided on more, more, more.

And different classes of tulips too. I have Single Lates, Darwins, 4 different varieties of Emperors, Kaufmannianas, 4 types of species, double early tulips and single early tulips.

My hat is off you you guys! Major League bulb planters!

I hope you-all post some photos and multi-plant photos next spring!

Hmm, I see a Bulb Badge, but no way to signify "1K", "2K" etc.

Rick

Don't include me in the Major League bulb planters! Hilarious!

I'm not going to plant anywhere near a 1000.

I don't know how anyone has the energy to plant 1000 or 5000. Hilarious! Blinking Thumbs up
