Stolen Treasure has thick strong scapes, and is a bud builder in my garden. I have a good picture of the scapes in the data base, tried to copy and paste here, but couldn't get it done.

Lavender Crinkles has very thick scapes on mature fans, though it's not very tall (registered as 27").

@GDJCB To post a plant database image in your post, just go to the image in the database that you want to use and above the photo look for "ATP BB Code:" and copy what comes after that and paste it into your post.

I forgot to mention that 'Coming Up Roses' has good scapes too, and it seems like it may have some degree of rust resistance, too - at least, in my garden.

Evaluating an iris seedling, hopefully for rebloom

I loved Ida Mae before I even knew there was such things as dips and tets. My strongest is London Tower. It is also my most rust resistant plant and biggest and most healthy. For such small flowers, it really puts it on in all other areas.

I don't grow a lot of diploids these are all good garden plants with sturdy scapes and provide many blooms during the bloom season.
A few doubles....
Condilla, already mentioned but I am in need of some color tonight so will post an image anyhow!

Mount Helena, a favorite, well branched, always doubles for me.

Roswitha, great plant with pretty blooms.

Unusual Forms....
Vanilla Gorilla, tall (44" registered height) extra large yellow-cream UF with super plant.

Itsy Bitsy Spider, early bloomer, cute tiny blooms.

Fitzasaurus, 9" red with strong tall scapes, grows much taller than registered height of 32" here. Closer to 48".

Spider....
Magic of Oz, , pleasing combination of yellow/cream/pink with a rose eye and a large green throat.

I would have to say Beauty In Motion by the late Bud Bennett is the diploid that has the thickest and well branched scapes. Coming in a close second is Jazz Me Blues, also by the late Bud Bennett. I also think that there are many factors which play into scape development. I believe that water and sunlight go a long way for scape development. If I recall, Starman's Quest also has a sturdy scape and has been 4 to 5 way branched for me. I moved it two years ago to a sunnier spot and it is performing extremely well.

Multiple people are citing Starman's Quest, which makes me wonder if my garden is somehow causing mine to be less thick than others' Starman's Quest daylilies. Sure, mine stiff up on its own, but the scapes weren't what I would consider thick. I'll have to see if it comes out thicker this year.

I know this thread is over a year old but there are some really good daylillies named here.
One I'm interested in was mentioned by Anne - 'Lavender Crinkles' however I am unable to find it listed on the web for sale. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

One dip I can think of that has nearly Tet like strong oak tree like scapes is Warrell's Chief Black Hand. That thing could fool an expert into thinking it is a tet, with it's huge scapes, branching and high bud count.

I have not grown it in many years, and back when I did I didn't have the greatest of camera, but this will give you an idea what it looks like. It's a sooty blackish purple spidery.

Chief Black Hand was a surprise gift from Woodhenge Gardens that came with my order for five of Margo Reed's introductions this past August. Based on your comments, Juli, I am delighted to be growing Chief Black Hand and eager to see it in bloom!

I have generally failed to notice on many of my diploids; 2018 I think I will try to notice more. I only notice the ones that are bad. But one daylily I grow, is very noticeable above the others.

I know I purchased this daylily, or it was given as a gift plant with an order, and the seller didn't write the name on the packing list because I think I have every daylily packing list I ever ordered.

But I think this daylily may be 'Dinett Sue', but I can't find a source to purchase a division to compare. If it is, I highly recommend it. Scapes are stalky-thick, but it's a shorter daylily. And it has great bud count:
