Some of the names are really funny. Makes me wonder how much wine someone was drinking when they came up with some of the more creative ones! I couldn't think of some of these names if I tried ... Naming a daylily is way harder than growing them!

When you look at names, I've noticed that some hybridizers are fond of rock music, or a certain genre of movie, or other singular themes. Would make it easier for them to come up with good ones. Each year, Fred Manning @spunky1 posts a thread on ATP for naming at least one of his introductions, which is a lot of fun. I registered one as a memorial. Lot of scope for creativity.

Speaking of daylilies named for a song, I grow TUSK and when I first looked at it I thought maybe it threw a random tooth/tusk but I have read that it was named after the song. Tusk by Fleetwood Mac

I can tell you a story about a seedling my husband named for me to register. No one would ever guess where the name WHOLEBUNCHALOTTA ever came from. But, he is a retired sheriff's deputy who used to guard prisoners in the Wayne County Jail in Detroit and wholebunchalotta is a term he used to hear prisoners say. It is jail lingo.

I acquired a cross, from Kim Klarner, 'Flycatcher' x 'Heavenly Curls' because my daughter is *very* annoyed by flies, like obsessed with sending them to "fly heaven" and she has gorgeous naturally curly hair. Could'nt resist!!

I just recently found this thread and had to tell you Becky: Your daylilies are gorgeous! I agree with everyone who said you should register them. I'd buy sunset over Sebastian in a heart beat! Beautiful color.

Our daughter was tickled pink with the idea! It's in our front border. The photo is from 2015, my first year. It's a gorgeous daylily!

This year, 'Electric Lizard' (although a named daylily) is on the way for our eldest daughter. She's our resident critter lover (big and small)! You know, beyond the normal critters that one would expect a girl to be interested in, but tarantulas, chameleons, snakes, bats, any kind of bug, dinosaurs, whales, sharks, etc.etc., are her fancy! Now mind you, our daughters are 19 and 20, but they have always been polar opposites!

Love 'em to the moon and back!

Glad to know that you wandered over here to the Daylily Forum. Be careful .... daylilies are addicting. They are like a Pringles Potato Chip .... you can't have just one!

My Sunset Over Sebastian seedling is not registered by me because it has an undesirable issue. I love, love, love the color and blooms, but the scapes tend to be thin which flop over. My plan is to cross it with a stronger scaped pollen or pod parent, to see if I can improve it .... the blooms sure do stand out. The flowers get my attention every time I see them. It really does remind me of the colors of the sunset here in my tropical Florida city.

Becky, it may not have the scape sturdiness you want but the color is sooooo beautiful I'd still buy it in a second! Your sunsets must be so beautiful in Sebastian.

Becky, I just went back and looked at your slideshow from Spring/Summer 2013 of un-named daylilies. You have some beauties there! I especially like the red one with the white edge (reminds me of Roses in Snow).
