Just because it was fun to see such a massive rock roll down the hill. 50 years ago, we all made our own entertainment. Hilarious!
I've always had a mixed feeling about it, though, because it can never be done again.

When we were in our late teens, we would drive into the hills of Lachlan on Friday nights, looking for car parts. Many cars had been dumped down steep hills and had gotten stuck on trees, so we would go down and free-up the car body, just to watch it crash down into the bottom of the valley. We could have easily gotten killed, doing this, but I think we were just too young and indestructible Thumbs up

Did I forget to mention that El destructo kitty was insane? She probably would have eaten lilies if I kept her locked inside, would have eaten the walls down too.

Ref : the boulder rolling.
Remember the Scouts who levered the boulders in Monument Valley? They all got jail terms and community service laid on them.
I guess private property is another matter. These jokers claimed they thought the boulders looked like a accident waiting to happen. The judge reminded them the rocks had been that way for 1000.'s of years and they destroyed a natural attraction.

Back to cats and lilies.
I have had 2 cats since my lily obsession, they never bother the plants in the garden.

Private property is always another matter. No guessing involved.

I should have said that we do own the land, although I hat that word.

My cats in general have never been interested in lilies, but I do keep an eye on them each summer when the lilies are in bloom.

I currently have a neighborhood cat using one of my lily beds as a litterbox. Any ideas on how to keep it out?

THE STAVROS METHOD- Old pots and pans, hanging from something like a tree or guttering, long string attached , leading to your point of observation- pull on the string when the cat enters your garden '' CLANG BANG BONG CLUNK'' cat runs away I tip my hat to you.

Well, if you can't find a way to keep the kitty out you could always make use of the free fertilizer! Big Grin

I don't ever see the cat going in to the bed but the bed is scratched up in a spot and it stinks. I don't mind the free fertilizer but the smell and the bed getting scratched up I don't like. Anything I can put in the area that they don't like?

I have thought about putting out a litter box for the neighbor hood cats, maybe setting it up at the end of my covered porch. Of course then I would be tasked with cleaning it out once a week or so. On the other hand they may not be inclined to use it since most don't bother to bury their doo. They even do it out on the lawn. But I am seriously considering giving it a try.

Try a couple cloves of crushed garlic or red hot chili pepper sprinkled in the area they poop. Some people use moth balls also, but I don't trust moth balls around lilies. They say it's safe, but it burned my Muscari terribly; in fact, it killed a lot of it. The red hot chili pepper is my favorite. Works for me!

That reminds me of a cool car I saw the other day. It looked like an early 1960s/late 1950s yellow Porsche. It's round headlights had 10 inch eyelashes! Wish I had my camera with me....
