Snow and cold is normal for Michigan. Its just the past three winters have been pretty easy. Some have forgot what real winter is like. Plus dwindling tax dollars have lead to big cut back in services. We got over a foot of snow. Residential streets don't get plowed for quite a while. I got stuck 3 times on my street this morning! Once I finally made it to the regular road it wasn't too bad. Just slow going.

>> So Rick is to blame for this, we might have to send some below zero his way.

Mea culpa, mea culpa, mea maxima culpa.

*Blush*

But I have been thoroughly punished. With all the cold thoughts aimed at me for jinxing everyone else's weather, the temperature plummeted last night ... so low that we had a little FROST this morning! Whatever will I do?? I've gotten used to mild PNW weather.

It's a mess here. -35 with windchill over night. The roads are all ice because salt won't work. I still have to go to work and it makes me a wreck!! And temps won't get high enough for salt to work until at least Thursday during the day.

Where I live, it's 12 weeks to average last frost.

I should be starting these indoors: Salvia & Petunia & Viola .

Daily lows of 30 - 42 F.
Daily highs of 41 - 49 F.

When I got up this morning it was 14° with a windchill of -2. I ran out to garage with my flip flops on to start the heater and wowie, was it ever cold. We got up to 26 today which broke a 129 year old record of 28° which was the coldest high set back in 1885. I cannot wait till this weekend when we will be back in the 60's and I am off all weekend!!

I hope everyone will be safe and warm until this polar vortex passes! Group hug

Here we go again!! This time we had snow and blizzard type winds all night. The Mid Atlantic is more affected by this one, and it dips all the way down to Florida. Whistling (we are @16°F#windchill@1°F)

Wow Jo Ann, I know those birds appreciate you! Ours started last night as sleet then changed to a mix before temps dropped and so under the snow is a layer of ice, my DH had a hard time getting into the Garage because the door was frozen shut, not looking forward to getting into the car. LOL.

We didn't get the snowfall of 11 to 14" but about 5 or 6". I have no intentions of leaving the house until it's gone. Our hired plow guys have our driveway cleared already.

@pirl, Looking good! Thankfully none of us got as much as they were predicting. The sun melted some of it today and tomorrow will be another brutally cold day but a bit warmer than today so, good melt for tomorrow.

@NJBob, I was noticing your windchill of -10° ..Yikes!!

@ge1836, I thought of you today when I was driving through the applesauce! LOL.

Our actual temp last night was -8. I don't know what the wind chill was. And the 10 day forecast isn't much better. We only have about 5" of snow on the ground but it's looking like it will stay around a while.

Ugh, I hate this!

I retired last year but my husband is still working. We keep talking about moving to a warmer climate after he retires.
