I am so sorry for you having to go through all of that; I know somewhat how you feel, not to your extent though. So PLEASE when you get to the point of doing your yard/garden do let me know also and I will gladly send you some daylilies.

Probably my only "gardening" resolution is weed control, and yard cleanup. But one thing I *insist* gets accomplished this year is recreating the path from the back gate to the back door.

It goes underwater every time it rains, as you can see from this picture. I bought the pavers to re-do it last spring, and then twisted my knee.

Thumbs up

This year, I have a yard guy, and I might ask him if he's willing to do this little project before he gets busy in the spring.

Mary, I would think about how to raise the path just a tad bit so that when it rains your path won't be under water. Otherwise over time (maybe not long?) the rain will wash dirt into your path over your pavers. They could even grow algae on them and be slick, I had some do that. Maybe you could put some landscape timbers down and then fill it with chat or some other gravel? Possibly if the distance isn't too far you may even consider having a cement sidewalk poured, mixed in a wheelbarrow and doing sections at a time it may not be as pricey as you think and it would be done that way.

Frilly, I wasn't detailed in my post -- the plan is to raise it slightly and put an edge on one side to encourage the water to find a different route. Thumbs up

My goal is better record keeping. Sure I have goals to complete some garden projects and start others, but those will always be there. I call my yard a work in progress. But record keeping..... I started off really good a couple of years ago, but the last couple of years things have been so hectic ( and perhaps my gardens have gotten too big for me)

Frilly, count me in for plant donations, too. I have loads of daylilies and quite a few hosta.... let me know what you like when the time comes, OK????

My first goal this year is to get out there as early as possible and start weeding and mulching. I have a huge hillside "garden" filled with a few daylilies and evergreen shrubs and hundreds of thistles and other weeds that I HAVE to get under control this year!!

Had an invasion of some kind of weedy grass take over even the mulched areas. Subfreezing temperatures haven't killed it off, but, fortunately, it is easy to pull up, so my resolution is to get out there with a kitchen fork every decent day from now on and start digging it out.

Debra, the ace tool on the right would give you better leverage ( easier on the hands) and it has a sharp point.

To hybridize my own daylilies!!!!!

I collected some daylily seeds toward the end of the growing season last fall. I only know the pod parents. The seeds are still in the fridge and I am thinking about getting what I need to start the planting process. If I get 20% to grow, I will be happy Shrug!

I actually started my gardening resolutions this pass fall, Kathleen and I decided to cut back drastically and break the habit of buying so many daylilies. For the last ten years I have been the one to decide what we were going to buy, because she could care less about what I'm doing out there. She does like some of the results because she still controls the financial end. I went from buying 4-5 collections to 1 and a few odds and ends I want to hybridize with. At this time every bed and box(except one box) is full of daylilies, (90% seedlings.) This fall 90% of those will be destroyed and will only plant two beds of baby seedlings(30% of available area).

We are also going to stop doing so many programs, just to much riding at this time in our lives.
