That is very wise of you to be so cautious about strangers. It should have thought of that. I am sorry if I troubled you. I take great pleasure in helping young people become more interested in plants and gardening. But, I do understand. There is lots of us who go out of our way to help others, asking nothing in return. Like you, I also have a small business (tropical plants). If I did not sell to strangers, I would have no business at all. My philosophy when it comes to my customers is that I would rather have them as a friend than make a sale to them. Every year I have some sort of plant that I just have too much of. I make that plant(s) available to all who want it and only ask for postage. Last summer I shipped out approximately 36 boxes of 'White Butterfly' ginger rhizomes/plants, with only the postage being paid by those I sent it to. I lost money on doing that, since I charged nothing for my time, nothing for the cost of packaging, and nothing to pay for getting the boxes to the post office.

P. S. I am young, only 70 years old.

@brookbenge, pardon mt directness, but...I wonder why you would ask so many strangers for advice in the first place?

How is our offer of offer of advice any different than our offer to send you a plant?

Perhaps you would be better off asking your mother for help as she is the one who purchases your plants for you.

I stick our spider plants outside along with our Easter and Christmas cactus, during the summer. Leaving spider plants a bit pot bound seems to work for them, in our situation. I do have lots of plastic hanging baskets without soil, so put the plants in their pots (with soil in), inside the empty hanging baskets! Then simply hang them above one of our windows on a rail! This stops slugs\snails getting near them.
They are easy to water if they need it in the UK, as it does tend to rain a bit here, which they seem to enjoy! I give them seaweed fertilizer now and again and basically treat them with what I cal G.H.N. Which is General Horticultural Neglect, and they flourish!
Though they grow in the downstairs bathroom as that is the only real place in a Victorian house they get light!
I do of course give them bigger pots and the little offsets as I call them of spider plants, I grow on and they sell for the church and school fairs, my nieces who go to school sell them and cakes for school and church funds.
