Same here. Angry
I took these pics from inside my house this morning.
At least my Begonia thinks its spring.
One thing nice about all this snow aside from the needed precipitation
is, it does insulate the roses. Thumbs up

Temps were around 70 here today, but I didn't get to enjoy it...too busy with dental appt and taxes, Grumbling
The snow just melted this weekend and already I see daffodils! I wouldn't mind a few more rounds of snow. Much rather have bright white than drab brown grass!
In November, I took delivery of rose orders from both Palatine and Pickering. I planted half, and kept half in the cold garage. I have potted the garage bunch, and all of them look good. The ones in the ground don't look good at all.
I pulled back the mulch and some are brown way down to the bottom. Does this mean i have to cut them all the way back or it there any chance that brown just means very dormant??
I sure hope I can save them.
Toni, how far down can you prune roses and still get blooms in June?
Remember that children, marriages, and flower gardens reflect the kind of care they get.

Rita ....

I know that works for you in your climate, but if I took my roses down that hard in my climate, it would take several growing seasons for them to come back.

There are just so many variables.

Cindi .... some roses can have brown canes and still be healthy. I would suggest you make your normal pruning cuts and if you see brown pith, then cut lower until you see white pith.

Smiles,
Lyn

Cindi - This year, I'll have to prune to the ground on most of my roses. And it all depends on when spring arrives. I think we're gonna have an early spring this year... the lilacs are starting to swell and most of my winter birds are gone now. Right now, all I'm feeding (that I've seen) are doves (year round birds) and now I got some sparrows (spring/summer/fall birds). My dark-eyed juncos are gone (winter birds) and I've seen blue jays (spring/summer/fall birds). Just waiting to see when the forsythias bloom. When they do, then I know 100% it's spring. Roses that have green canes higher up (Tuscan Sun actually stayed green almost to her tips, and she's about 24" tall) I'll trim down to about 12". Otherwise, it's a buzzcut for everyone. I'll take pictures to show how depressing my yard is. It looks so horrible because everything's so dead.

Vicky - I've asked around some of the nurseries and no one seems to have ever heard of WiltPruf, so I'll probably have to order it for next year. I know that Steve swears by it... anyone seen him or Alan in a while? haven't seen either of them in for ever.

Great news at my house. I had decided I wanted a dog and did research to see what might be the one for me. I decided on a Papillon. Yesterday I contacted a local breeder but never dreamed I would have my pup the same day. I think it was fate, she was meant to be mine.

Here is 6 month old Lily, a black and white female.
