I think it would be fun to see a G.H. Wild plant grown next to one of the beautiful huge Maryott plants after two or three years in the garden. I have several of the G.H. Wild plants, anyone want to send me one of their new Maryott plants for a trial? Didn't really think that would work! Darn.
I am in no way suggesting that one of the tiny plants from G.H. Wild would be able to compete with the Maryott plant. I think newbies tend to buy from G.H. Wild then graduate to the higher quality more expensive (especially with freight if you live on the east coast) plants. I think that is mainly because in getting started the Wild catalogs and the web site are the first source we find for daylilies. We don't know the difference in one daylily from another, but we learn as we go. The Wild plants teach us a lot as we grow them to maturity, I actually love growing the little plants up to full size.
