Well, you know I can quit any time I want, why I am still working on the afore mentioned thesis, and I have just begun some gound breaking work in the area of prenatal indoctrination methods for motivating chickens to eat weeds, and scratch carefully around iris rhizomes as the do so. I just began the incubation of another 50+ eggs with modified training taps. These new hatchlings will be capable beyond any of my previous broods, as they have been genetically engineered with duplicate recessive epistatic characteristics extracted from higly motivated irisarians. Not only will they keep the gardens weed free, and fertilized, they will have the ability to cross pollinate desireable iris highbreds. The hope is that they can be trained to read and type well enough to communicate those crosses and label them. I must confess that my first attempts to this were less than desireable, as I found some of the roosters in uncompromising positions with some of the prettiest blooms. I also found that the hens would plant their eggs partially covered with soil, but leaving the top exposed, much like one would plant a rhizome. Also, when they went to type their activities on the computer, they produced some rather kinky porn based on activities with flowers. At least I know they were on the right track, but I had to sell them all to the campbell soup company and start over. Since then I have been working at re-developing the prenatal tapes and they are playing now on an on going basis as the new eggs are being hatched. But, since they will not be fully grown until the summer of 2015, I will not get to see the results for some time. This research is demading, and time consuming, thus the need for increased fixes of iris blooms. So you all better keep the pictues coming!

Gee ! I hope it's not in the water !? I'm downstream from you, and Rita already thinks I'm goofy as a pet coon! She's starting to mutter under her breath, "Too much fishing, Too many iris, Where did I go wrong? "I'm getting quite used to it, and it doesn't bother me too much anymore, and, in fact, I find it rather soothing! But I would hate to push the Dear Lady completely over the edge by introducing the idea that I'm spending time with those who tend to be a "bad" influence!.. I find when I get "rather stressed" , the colors yallow or orange tend to over-excite me, while blue tends to put me to sleep...so I often find colors like this helpful

Remember a while back Mary Ann, the guy who thought I was serious about chickens doing my weeding? It was so funny. (This is my other personality talking now. This one has no knowledge of the chicken thing.) Shrug!

Manderin Morning has been struggling competing with quack grass in a bad spot. I have been working to get it back, but not big enough yet. Capatonic should have enough to share. That is of course if someone has room for yet another one!

The chickens will hatch in about 3 weeks. Here's one to tide you over.

What breed is that one, Tom ? Are they always "bald" like that ? My son is trying to get the village board to allow him to keep some hens. He wants some eggs, I guess. They (the Board) outlawed chickens many years ago, because of the "noise" . He has gathered lots of info from various towns that DO allow chickens (but only hens), and plans to present it to them. I told him he would be wise to forget it, as they also outlawed honey bees at the same time (dangerous animals), and he might bring too much attention to himself! I just love small town drama ! By the way, Bugsy is kinda' nice! Looks like a real "throwback" !.....Arlyn

Oh thanks, now I have another fix for a while! INSANE????? Of course we're insane, we plant unreasonable numbers of irises we buy at unreasonable prices, and then we baby them along all year just to get 2 or 3 weeks of nice blooms that we can miss for the rest of the year. We need an icon for wacko! Rolling on the floor laughing Crying Drooling Grumbling nodding Confused
