Rob, have you had Ipheion growing for long? I planted several in fall of '13 and hoping to see nice increase. I'm curious if they've naturalized for you.

It was planted around 4-5 years ago...I think. I haven't noticed it popping up any where else. I sure hope I haven't pulled out any babies that have tried to come up thinking they were weeds.

So this is what my little 4-5 year old clump looks like.

Mine used to increase fairly nicely but when we got a new wooden fence installed the builders pretty much wiped out that colony...

Thank you both! Nice to see those thick clumps! They may not seed themselves, but looks like the bulbs increase nicely.

Chionodoxa have been sporadic in emerging again in their 2nd year, but appear to all be coming along well. I guess that sporadic sprouting is just normal for them. Right now it looks like about 1/4 of them are blooming, and even those little spots of color are showy.

Rita, when you see those little seedlings, be sure not to weed them out. They reach blooming size in a year or two- you'll start seeing little ones with a single bloom here and there. Its really delightful to see clumps morph and expand in the garden and beyond!

I did not know that Neal. I have probably been pulling my seedlings up. I will be much more careful from now on. I love them as they come up in an area of my garden where where the crocus have finished blooming.

Bonnie, the Chionodoxa "stream" is coming along! Right now its more just a puddle and some rain drops, but more are soon to follow.

Muscari azureum is the earliest Muscari here. I'm surprised to see 2 bloom stalks from most bulbs, considering the bulbs are really tiny!

I hope I do see lots of little ones! Thumbs up You know I don't remember really seeing them before so will be looking very carefully this spring.

My muscari is darker blue. I planted white ones too but they have not come back. I was telling a friend yesterday about your blue water stream and she hopes she can create something like it. Your imagination is an inspiration. smiles

Here are Scilla siberica seedlings. They look very much like Chionodoxa seedlings.

What I did was plant them in "pockets". So a corner or curve of a flower bed where there was what seemed like a logical place to me, I planted in the lawn in front of the flower bed in the pocket.

Those are in various places around the yard. Sparsely planted in each grouping with plenty of space between. We will see of they fill in.

Rita, those pockets will become pools, how lovely! When I was a teenager I planted only 10 or 20 of each of both Siberian Squills and Chionodoxa, and while away at college they were showing up all around that general area, within 4 or 5 years.

I do see a very few flower stems of the Chionodoxa starting to show up just peeking out. But these that I noticed are on pink ones I planted two years ago. Didn't mean to have them be pink but they turned out to be pink.

Some of the Chionodoxa I planted in fall of 2013 have produced surprisingly large trusses of blooms! They're photogenic little guys..

The Chionodoxa "stream" is at least looking somewhat stream like. There's a bare patch though, not sure if I just neglected to plant bulbs there or if something happened to them. The resident rodent patrol, Wilhelmina, photo bombed a lot of pictures this morning, LOL.
