Name: Carol Santa Ana, ca Sunset zone 22, USDA zone 10 A.
I've fought scale and mealies on my clivias for years, but for some reason, my only problem with them this year is snails and slugs. Bayer 3 in 1, weather? who knows.
If you've all got mealies I might have them too.......I haven't checked recently. Mealies I can deal with, scale is a death sentence for my plants.....it just never goes away.
On 4/23, I posted that I thought I saw a bud forming on my Miami Red. When we returned from Arizona, sure enough, there was a bud. We will be leaving for FL on the 25th, and I am hoping to see this bud open. I can see red at the tip o the bud, but since I have no experience with these, I don't have a clue as to whether I will miss out on this grand opening! There appears to be another bud forming almost across from this one. Perhaps if I miss the first, I will see the second.

Any day you wake up on the sunny side of the grass is a good day.

The Hildewintera aureispina throws out some blooms here and there all Summer long. I had bought the plant many years ago for the interesting cristation, but I didn't feel like cutting the straight growth off to keep it that way. Nowadays I find myself taking cuttings every so often to gave away to people which ring my door bell and ask about it.
The first of the Schick Hybrids "saying peep" this outdoor season. This is Echinopsis 'Celeste' ( Schick 1365-2)
Bought wrongly labeled many years ago, this Epi starts its blooming season.
Carol, they are so small they can be tucked in everywhere.
I have them during the indoor season on the sunny top shelf which is hard to reach anyway on a daily basis. So they are really not taking any space away.
Hoya carnosa opened today, this is the first time I have ever bloomed a Hoya so its quite exciting The fragrance is amazing, and I can't quite put my finger on what it reminds me of....its very sweet and rich, yet not too strong
The picture isn't the best, quickly snaped it with my phone
