It rained I'm guessing over an inch yesterday afternoon, and then it rained again most of the evening until about 1:00 A.M. Lot's of ponds. I hope the iris that were getting ready to open waited!

Some surprises this morning. This was supposed to be Chocolate Halo, I knew yesterday that something was wrong, as it should have started coming out yellow, and it looked purple and white, sure enough it was the wrong iris. I think it might be Tableau, but I'm checking with Kerr to see what it is.

I'm not sure if Immortality is old enough to be called historic, but that's the bed it's in.

after 30 years, an iris cultivar falls into the category of "Historic". So, Immortality was introduced in 1982; that means it became a Historic two years ago!

I think I have them all from this morning. I'll have to go back and check. Better put them in a folder before I go much farther.

Thanks for the nice comments. Mariposa Sky is supposed to be a re-bloomer, but it doesn't have enough time in our short summers.
Paul, I can hardly get them posted once, let alone on another thread too. My camera dosen't do too well on the 'really close" close up.

I'm kind of glad there are some blooms, or else I'd be really down in the dumps. My mare aborted a pair of twins last night. Sad Both black with a blaze and four white feet. One male and one female. I had to use a different vet for the ultrasound, as my vet who is very good with reproduction, was recovering from cancer surgery, so this dumb vet didn't catch the twins. Really upsets me.

It occurs about one in 10,000 births, and about 1 in 10,000 of them survive. Usually the vet can detect them when they do the ultrasound. They will then check bact to see if one terminates itself, which is what often happens. If not, they will terminate the smaller of the two, and there will be a normal birth.
