The weather reports for back East have been terrible. I think of all of you that live in those states having all the rain and flooding. Group hug

Seems we've all be taking turns over the last few years with one weather disaster or another reducing our semp inventories. Sorry to hear and hope things dry out soon for everyone. We're just starting our 2nd week of rain every single day and warm temps too - not a good combination for semps.

And we are doing the opposite. This time of year we would still be getting rain almost daily. Everything here is all dry as an old bone. Last night we finally got some rain. Hurray!
Thought I was going to have to start watering. That is expensive here.

The weather news was not good this morning for all of you in the midwest and eastern states. Hopefully your weather will clear up soon.

Yeah, the weather has been rough here as well.
It was really, really dry and hot for a while, but now it's suddenly raining a lot AND it's really hot. Ugh...
I lost two semps shockingly quick (they were even shielded from the sun), but I've got other chicks of the same cultivars planted in different areas, so I have backups.

Looks like I have my work cut out for me. I'm going to move some semps around, so that I have every cultivar planted in at least two totally different areas to maximize the chance of survival. My worry is that the places that appear to be great for semps in the summer might be really bad for them in the winter... Grumbling

This is why I put a lot of my tenders and just a little of my semps in pots so that I can move them to different places when the sun moves with the seasons. I am a plant "rotator" and when the semps planted in their bed looks to have uneven growth or need maintenance, I am frustrated that I can't simply rotate the semp bed and/or get closer to pull out dead leaves with my tweezers. But I shouldn't complain...at least they are still alive (well most of them, that is...)

JC I do not know if you want to use my process but I put mine in styrofoam lids. I put the stones around and on top so they look like they are planted in the garden. But all I have to do is pick up the lids and move them.

I will take a pic tomorrow if it stops raining long enough to show you how it looks.

I order from Omaha Steaks and get at least 3 boxes a year. Also, when I get fish for my pond in the summer they give me a couple to transport my fish home. The lids are about 3" deep and I punch holes in for drainage.

I have very few Semps in the ground now. Since my yard floods out so much I have mine in pots ,hanging baskets and whatever else i can find to use. That i can move easier I grow mostly Vertical now. Have metal wire shelves along my front fence.and the hill side of my front yard i am in process of redoing now but everything there will be in pots also.
Thanks Greg , but i try to have 3 pots of each semp i have anymore. I just hate to lose the larger 1's. I just got some plants from Chris a week ago and she sent me 2 really nice big Zulu's, Lost both of them but 1 had some chicks and the rest were on a shelf so i do have backups there. No Rain today!! Hurray! Hurray! BUT calling for it next couple of days Grumbling Grumbling Grumbling

@Cahac - Cliff glad you have some backup! I like the idea of your yard and would love to see pics when you get a chance!!!
Cinta what a great idea! Lightweight, perfect depth and easy both to plant and move!
Good luck ya'll with the rain!! Hope things clear up soon! The water is probably a good thing though!! I've read so many bad reports about the midwest's water table being so low! Thumbs down
Cheers I tip my hat to you.
