I knew I should not have bragged how BIG Emerald Empress was getting! All the rain then the 90+ degree weather has caused her great distress. Pulled out some leaves starting to rot this morn. Sad Trying to decide if I need to take up and let dry in dry shade on a bed of perlite.
Tips or suggestions? I tip my hat to you. Thank You!

Linda taking the plant up and putting it in bright mixed shade is probably a good idea!! I found I save many semps by moving them!! Keep us updated, and sorry to hear about your plant!!! Thumbs down I tip my hat to you.

Anytime a plant look like it is starting to give up the ghost I pull it, put it in a pot in bright shade and give it a bit of water...unless the roots/dirt are saturated, in which case no water. New plants from end of May on go into pots in bright shade and I put them in the ground in the spring. (My beds are too big to do a shade cloth, which would also work). They seem to get stressed in the summer sun and either shrivel up or start sending up a bloom stalk. This is in Oregon.

Linda,
if the ground is really wet, i would take it up and set it on a dry bed in bright shade, also perlite is good or just a spot of gravel.. I've lost at least 20 so far this week alone. and some of those were under the trees also been in mid 90's and rains in afternoons then the sun pops back out and they are cooked, before i get a chance to do anything.

The really high temps, rain and high humidity can make it more difficult to grow semps. But we have many members that grow them in those conditions and do it very well. It is all a learning process on what works for you area.
And I see many of you have found a way to keep them happy and healthy. What great semp parents you are. Thumbs up

Group hug I tip my hat to you. Thank You! to all my semp buddies
haven't pulled her yet, watching everyday under shade. That is my concrete wire hoop covered with an old sheer curtain plus a plastic mulch bag clothes pinned down to keep off most of the rain. Looks like it's going to storm again Sad If that doesn't help will pull, lay in pot of perlite in dry shade.

I went out to take some pics yesterday and I see I have the same problem of rot. I know our problem is not hot/sun it is because of the rain and flooding rains. We have been warm 80s - 90 but it has been raining most days and cloudy for over a month now.

I removed them and mixed up 80% of aquarium gravel and 20% soil. I lined some wire baskets with coir lining and put the soil mixture in the baskets. I have picked up the ones that are looking bad and put them on top of this mixture. We are just getting to much rain and humidity.

This is what they look like.
