Surprise, surprise. I woke up to sunshine this morning, clearing out all those rain clouds we had yesterday. We may have a pop up thundershower this afternoon in the mountain areas, but right now, its looking beautifully sunny with blue skies overhead, temps around 72 today, humidity about 50%. By the weekend, temps will be in the 80's.
Sharon, poor baby. I don't envy you those temps and humidity. One week during our summers here, we have those conditions. Since I don't have air conditioning at all, I have to suffer thru that humidity, opening all my sliders and windows, feeling much like a 'wet noodle'. On those nights, I usually sleep out on my deck under the stars. Cold showers are the norm. Last summer we really didn't have that heat/humidity, shades of the polar vortex that was to come last Winter. I would rather have the heat, than that interminable arctic blast for days on end. A result of the cold that blasted the US last Winter, was the US GNP fell 2.9% in the 1st quarter of this year. That is really astounding!! Too cold for anyone to leave there homes. You know, when I moved to VT. years ago, I came here for the beauty of this part of the country and to ski. But as the years flew by, it was the summers that I fell in love with. Gracious, warm but not too hot, wildflowers everywhere, wildlife in abundance, and the comfort of these old mountains (Appalachian) enveloping my spirit with, as Keats writes, an 'Ode to Joy'. Since, I don't ski anymore, I would gladly trade our long winters, for the beauty and sumptuousness of the Spring, Summer and Fall here. I find the Winter's now to be far to confining and way to cold, especially last Winter. So, it's a trade off.
Sharon, I am surprised that your state of Kentucky is experiencing such high temps, and horrible humidity so early in the Summer. Is this the norm for your area? Cindy, yes, I always check your blogs out here because I know most of our weather comes right across from the Great Lakes, where you are situated, to VT. So thanks for the early weather forecast
It's better than our weather guessers!!
