I used white cotton twine tied around the top of my daughters white picket fence and pined to the ground to let morning glories grow up and cover the fence. Didn't even notice the twine.

Cheap and Easy. Love it!

I will have to look for "garden staples". I haven't noticed them in garden centers, but haven't been looking for them.

I suppose you could wrap or tie the string around a rock in a pinch.

Masonry bricks have convenient holes in them.
So do cinder blocks....
Make sure whatever it is is heavy enough to hold the mature vine!

Look for the landscape staples where the landscape fabric is sold they are large U shaped pins.
I planted MG in my window boxes and hung white cotton twine up over the window for them to grow on it worked very well.

I used an old rake head with some white cotton twine to make a trellis extension for my Passi. Just tied the twine from the rake head to the top of the existing trellis.
