I just go all ga-ga every time I see the tufted titmouse.

Painted Buntings are back! They left a month ago (for whatever reason), so great to see them again. I saw a few greenies on the ground and one was acting like a chick...fluttering its wings and opening its beak, trying to get the adult's attention. A lot of birds around now.
This cute hummingbird rests a few moments on a branch.
I've noticed that sometimes a hummingbird will chase a Scott's Oriole away when the oriole is trying to get the nectar. Maybe I'll add another hummingbird feeder. Have seen the orioles hunting for insects...got closer to one of those orioles than I have before when it was trying really hard to get a bagworm...it didn't even notice me standing on the other side of some plants.
I would feel more optimistic about a bright future for man if he spent less time proving that he can outwit Nature and more time tasting her sweetness and respecting her seniority. E. B.White

Linda, I sure love those Painted Buntings, you are so fortunate to see them so often; I really miss them visiting my feeders. Beautiful shot of the Hummer!

Yeah. He departed pretty soon after he spotted me. I guess now this bird is called the Eastern Towhee. I grew up calling them the Rufous sided towhee but I guess they have decided that there is now the Eastern and the Spotted. It's hell to get old and have to learn new things!

That is so cute, the finch does look to have his head almost entirely inside the feeder ... looking for the good stuff! Love that Dove looking right at the camera!

A few from today. Excuse the graininess of some of these as I was trying out the digital zoom of this camera. Those young bluebirds were shot at nearly 100X zoom. I don't like digital zoom because it tends to grain but it sure does increase the range.
