Maurice - Thank you for your reply. Those photos do show the example quite well. I've seen a bloom or two that was similar. (Usually in first bloom seedlings.)

I asked about environmental because years ago I grew some I. nil (morning glories) that produced a bizarre affect. They were grown in a container. I always wondered if it had something to do with the fertilizer. It was a fluke though, as only 2 early blooms produced the weird patterned blooms. The rest on the vine were normal.
