Now, I didn't say nuts. Heh, if I had, I would also have to point that finger at myself. I just don't have many seeds to collect THIS year. Hilarious!
I'm finally getting around to getting all those little paper cups of seeds sorted and put into envelopes this year. Smiling Sigh, but there are some mystery seeds.

Hello, I just stopped in a sec to see what you guys are saving. Wow! I feel like I should be doing more lol.

I do have a question. I grow several veggies and was wondering if anyone on here save them. I would like to save some canary melon seed. Last year I saved my son's Giant Atlantic pumkin seeds and got a few
huge ones but they seem to rot worse than a regular Jack O Lantern type Angry

I collect daylily seeds of course! Do you have a seed swap where you can put in a wish list? I would love to try the profusion zinnia and others.

Thanks,
Teresa

I don't save or trade much any more. After more than 30 years in the same place, my garden is pretty full. And the fact that I've been wintersowing since 2006 contributes to the "my garden runneth over" thing. Hilarious! Still, I do start a few things under lights every year and I still wintersow a few jugs every year, too.

Best bet for seed trades is the plant and seed trading forum. Lots of people do the piggy swap too, but I never have. Someone else will have to give you info on that.

This seed swap has not begun but you can look at people's databases to see what they have listed so far. Ella and everyone are so helpful if you have any questions.

I grew some type of Bee Balm and it really was beautiful but not a seed to be found.

Question please about the Jacob Cline bee balm:
When I look on the internet half the people say this plant is sterile/will not set seeds and other other half say it re-seeds like crazy.

Which bee balms will make viable seeds and which will not?
Thank You!

Interesting lists. So far I have seeds from:

Canna lily (from a Canna sdlg with unknown parentage)
Antigonon leptopus (Coral Vine)
Cissus trifoliata (aka Cow-itch, Grape Ivy, Sorrelvine)
Torenia fournieri (Wishbone Flower)
Caesalpinia gilliesii (Mexican Bird of Paradise)
a wild Senna growing in the creek bed
hybrid bearded iris seeds

I forgot daylily seeds. I planted every single one of them. I never dreamed nearly all of them would germinate. I'm not used to that. I'm overrun with 200-300 seedlings at a guess. Dumb, dumb, dumb!

I rather doubt folks are seeing it reseed like crazy; they're probably just seeing how well it spreads by runners/rootlets. Just a guess here, but I'd side with the folks who think JC is sterile, or nearly so.

I've tried to find seeds on the native monardas, but I'm either not very adept with the timing, or I don't know what exactly to look for.

Toni -- I don't think people are done with the seed collecting here by any means!! Hope you'll check out the Piggy Seed Swap at Ella's Garden on Cubits -- this is my first year for signing up (although every year I've "thought about it")

I've saved several tomato varieties, several bean varieties, marigolds, catnip, dill, and Baptisia australis (blue false indigo). Next year I'll plan to save more things to share!

I have been harvesting seeds for Vietnamese Perilla, more Cinnnamon Basil.
A hot Mexican chili/Tree Chili.
Forsythia Salvia is starting to make its first blooms!! don't know if I will get seeds from it.
Chipilin will have enough time for the seeds to mature. Hurray!
Large leaf green Perilla/Shiso seeds need more time to ripen.
Papalo is making too many seeds and I am trying to catch all of them so they won't spread.
I harvested a ton of Callicarpa americana/American Beautyberry, I plan to make seed bombs with the extras.

Yep, I'm gonna need more bags and labels.

Had to go back through the thread looking for what JC was the abbreviation for.
Thanks. So, does it NOT make seeds? and only spreads by runners and such?

There are at least a few that grow from seed. I only know this because Swallowtail accidentally sent me some last year. Smiling http://www.swallowtailgardense...
