Okay Holly this is for you. Pink Houseplants. I do not have many but maybe the other houseplant lovers can join in and show the pink.

I have to admit it is not my favorite garden plant color but I love houseplants that have pink in them. I do not know why pink is a garden no go for me but I love them in houseplants.

Okay this is what I have or have had but died

So pretty! Is the top one a calathea? That might have to go on my "most wanted" list. I had about 10 different types of cryptanthus before Hurricane Katrina decided to drop a tree on them. They seem to be harder to find these days than they were back then.

Now I'm going to have to go through that "pink" list and make my Christmas wish list. I have to go to Baton Rouge today. My favorite nursery is there so you know what that's going to lead to.............

Yes Holly that is calathea Dottie. I loved that plant. It died down over the winter and when I put it outside for the summer it started coming back then it died the next winter. I have been looking for it to buy again and this time I will put it in my terrarium in the winter.

I have a few plant that like a lot of humidity and since I do not use my 100 gallon salt water tank for fish anymore I put plants that like humidity in the winter and in the summer I put some hardscape items in for decor and take the pants outside,

ENJOY YOUR SHOPPING TRIP!!

Welcome! Holly ... I think you will love it here at ATP!

Very nice Cinta! I used to have Calathea Dottie and loved that colorful plant. I still have a couple of Calathea's just hanging on by a thread but they may be goners after the cold night we had last night. I did cover a few of the container plants on the back screened porch and a few out front but a lot of things are showing cold damage. Our predicted low temperature last night was supposed to be 37ยบ - 38ยบ (extremely cold for our area for this time of year!) but I checked the thermometer during the night and the lowest I saw was 41ยบ which is still too cold! Yesterday our high was 84ยบ and today it's only going to be @ 54ยบ but supposed to be back to the lower 80's by the weekend thank goodness.

I love Earth Star (Cryptanthus bivittatus) and have a little one that's pink from high light but one that's inside the house has been in a dark corner so has turned green in color; I should move it to a sunny spot so it will get the pink coloration again.

Another of my favorite "Pink" plants is

Cinta, my Pink Princess has had it's ups and downs over the past few years and isn't looking so great right now because it was subjected to wet and then cold, which can be the demise of most tropical plants. I will have to watch a lot of my plants for signs of fungal infection. Our irrigation system came on yesterday morning so a lot of my plants got a good watering but then the temps dropped so low last night and it's been windy and chilly here all day today. Sighing!

Lin, Lin, Lin you do know you are whining to a woman that had temps down to 17 degree this week. To add to that misery I am not going to get warm until next June even if I light a fire and sit inside the fireplace.

Now do you feel bad? Rolling on the floor laughing Just kidding. I am going to look for that one online and see if I can find it reasonable. I am to cheap to spend a lot for it and that is why I have not brought it yet. Maybe talk to my local nursery. They will order plant for me if I let them know before they put their order in for next year. I can get a big mature plant that way for less that 20.00. I hate paying a high price plus shipping for a little stick.

Cinta, LOL ... most of us in the south bundle up in sweatshirts and jackets when the temp's drop below 60ยบ and although it's not unheard of here for temps to drop into the 20's (usually mid/late January or early February) thank goodness it doesn't happen often and doesn't last long.

Well, for starters, I didn't buy anything on my nursery outing. I'm proud of myself. But LOOK what they had.
Thumb of 2014-11-20/BayouBeadery/a9f7b3

They were really big and I didn't want to crowd the greenhouse but now I wish I had gotten one to put in the house. Their tropical inventory was pretty low but I've never seen so many Christmas cactus in one spot in my life. It was bizarre.

That's a very nice Pink Princess. I found mine to be very finicky. Sometimes it looked great and sometimes it was on the brink of death. Hurricane Katrina got it in the end like so many of my plants. Sad

I do like it here Lin! Thank You!
