I need to try Rosemania again. I had a pretty high loss rate on my first order; but I may not have been a maniac about hydrating them.

I know I've said this before, but since we are talking about Rosemania and Regan's, I think it's worth mentioning again.

Both of the above are good nurseries so my comments are not about their roses per se.

Roses are an agricultural crop. Just like any other crop there are good years and bad years.

California has been in a long term drought which will certainly have had an effect on the rose crops in California. This is the first year that the part of the state where the rose growing fields are located that there has been normal rainfall .. actually more than normal ... Smiling in more than five years.

Nurseries have to order their inventory from the growers two years in advance. If you know a nursery is most likely to be getting their roses from California, I think it is wise to wait another year before ordering from one of those nurseries. I think you would end up purchasing a healthier plant.
I'd rather weed than dust ... the weeds stay gone longer.
