Sue, I totally agree ! What's lousy for me is that we haven't gotten our normal freezing, or below freezing, night temps this year. The weeds are jumping out of the ground and smothering the roses with wet, gloppy, goopy leaves covering the canes of the roses. Usually, the weeds are not a problem this time of year because they've been frozen and are not growing.

Next week, we are supposed to get a break in the rain. Instead of watering roses in the snow like last year, I am going to be weeding roses in the mud this year !

zuzu said:I don't mind it. All this time inside is letting me take care of other things I always ignore. My kitchen is actually spotless today, for instance, and that's a rare sight.

Zuzu, I've been spending my time cleaning, too. I've been going through closets getting rid of stuff. The kitchen is next. I never get bored working in the garden, but this cleaning stuff is boring me out of my mind !

It's always something.

Smiles,
Lyn
I'd rather weed than dust ... the weeds stay gone longer.

You know, even when we got the catastrophic floods last year, I *still* didn't get tired of the rain. I didn't care it was raining.. I was out in it doing what needed to be done (weeding). I loved it! Wish we got more rain... *sigh* but looks like we're gonna get a White Christmas this year.

This is the only time of year my indoor space gets much attention, so I can at least find something positive about winter. I haven't been able to bring myself to put up a tree though, just not into it this year. I'd rather look at flowers than lights and bobbles, although I do love lights and bobbles, I'd rather see them after the holidays when winter seems really dark and gloomy. I have been doing something in the garden every day though, even if it's just pulling a few weeds for 15 minutes, I'm making myself get out there, and it is therapeutic. My dog likes to do her rounds and sniff around the property, and I throw a stick several times for her to get some activity, so it's a good incentive to get me outside.

Last year winter seemed to hang on for so long, and in my desperation to see something blooming, I started picking up some orchids from sale racks. That has been a fun endeavor, and I've got a new flowering stem arising from one of them! This year I picked up some African Violets to feed the need for colorful blooms. I used to grow them, but it was 30 years ago, so I hope I still have the touch! They were cheap, so no biggie if they don't make it- they're pretty now Smiling

That is hilarious, and very sad for non-rose people who want to start growing roses by choosing this one. I'm surprised he's in Turkey. Scams that are this ludicrous usually originate in Nigeria.

Love early morning snow! It's a back and white world!
