Can't claim credit for growing these tulips..they were given to me by my hubby on Valentine's Day, brought it outdoors to enjoy the sun..though I think it finds our sun rather intense so have to give it some shade; had to stake and tie two stalks as it is bending.

Thanks jmorth Big Grin Aww, this is just the time of the year to early Spring and sometimes in Fall that I get nice blooms from the small collection I have. Just watch, come late spring to early Fall, I am quiet..nothing blooming here much..too hot for everything..well, except for the Hymenocallis, that one likes to bloom around summer time. Then I am at the cactus and succulents thread, posting more about succulent plants Hilarious!

Funny thing is, when I bought the bulbs and started to read up on growing them I found out they sell the bulbs here in Jan. but they should be planted in fall. I planted them anyway and the first year they were a disappointment. I don't even remember what happened to the flower box they were in but the extras were in the pot I now have in the greenhouse. I'm sure I put them in the GH to over winter last year and they didn't bloom that I recall and I kind of forgot about them, just kept moving the pot around. So when the green started shooting up again this fall I put them back in the GH again. The blooms this year are larger and more fragrant. Now I'm thinking of getting a few more!

I got my first freesias just about a week ago..already as seedlings. Have repotted them and so far doing well. So happy to have them, now that I know they love winter rains..since that is what we have if and when rains come by here. Thankfully as dry as our winter is this year, we have good cool overnights, so it is helping it. I am glad they will go dormant come summer, that is good for my area, it is so hot and dry here anyways so that will be one less plant to water during those days. Smiling

Oh, they're beautiful. Mine were supposed to be mixed colors but the majority were white.

I really don't know much of anything about them and I had pretty much given up on them but now I'm going to do some more reading and see what I need to do to have more (besides neglect! Hilarious! )

The cold grip of winter seems to be finally leaving the southeast. We had crazy temps this past week, one day it was 72 degrees, and the next morning, we were in the 20's with snow flurries.

The garden here is waking up, despite the weather, with the bulbs taking off this week, and the hellebores continuing to bloom.

Here a few blooms from today.

Annettte, those are lovely. Thumbs up We had temps in the mid 60s today and tomorrow we'll be in the 70s. I have a NOID hellebore in bloom. I have had thoughts of transplanting it to a tall pot, in order to be able to enjoy the blooms better. Then again, I heard that it takes a while for them to get adjusted after being moved, so I may just leave it. I haven't planted many spring blooming bulbs, but may need to remedy that situation. I do have a few daffs and I recently planted some Ziva paperwhites in a pot and enjoyed them immensely. I'll plant them in the ground when the leaves die down. I'm looking forward to spring, just not to losing an hour of sleep tonight. Thumbs down

Don't forget to set your clocks forward tonight, everyone.

Thanks Deborah, and thanks also to Arlene, Julia and jmorth for the Thumbs up

I have moved hellebores before, and they did fine. The plant in pic #8 is one I transplanted last year, and it has done well. Most of my hellebores are planted in a shade bed with a star anise tree. As the tree has gotten larger, I've had to move plants from under it because I can't see the blooms.

Deborah, this seems to be our last night in the 30's, and we're predicted to have temps mostly in the 60's during the day, and the 40's to the 50's at night. I hope this trend stays!

Here's to hoping. Lovey dubby I've been moving some potted perennials that I've been overwintering and protecting from frost outdoors. I'm also thinking of moving some cold tolerant succulents out under my roof overhang. I'm watching the weather closely.
