Arlene - Yes, I absolutely agree .... better late than never. It is my therapy now!
Jeanne - Wow! Will you just look at all those beautiful flowers! My yard has blooms throughout the year, but not in mass bloom like yours. Mine is more subtle blooming times. I grow plants specifically for the butterflies and certain birds. And with my seedling daylily obsession, spurts of blooms, but not quite as pretty as all of your garden beds! Reaaalllly NICE!!!
Holly - I can relate (3 children). Except for the retirement ... I will never be able to stop working until I can't physically or mentally work any longer. I am alone on the gardening projects except for anything that has to be built. Then I have to try to explain it to my husband and work on him until he gives up and helps me.
I do everything on the cheap! And I am trying to do everything permanent (concrete, not wood), as I will not be able to replace anything wood down the road. So I figure out ways to make garden areas permanent and sturdy. My new motto is "Do it only once!"

Holly - Congrats on the bricks from freecycle! Gotta love those freebies! I've gotten over $200 worth of freebie concrete pavers, edging, etc.! Boy! Do I feel like I hit the lotto when such a deal comes along.

Has anyone had experience with "Feng Shui" in the Garden? I recently came across this type of gardening, but have no experience with it. http://www.gardenguides.com/58...

I have never heard of "Feng Shui" in the Garden but it does sound interesting. I will have to read more when I have time. I need to get back outside and cut out the dead parts of my Sedum "Autumn Joy". I think that is its name. What a job that is !!
I managed to get to 2 of my 4 Epiphyllum oxypetalum. They had become quite over-grown in their hanging baskets. What a chore!!! I did the two largest ones today and will do the other smaller two after work this week or next weekend. I had to replace the chains as well as they had rusted. I love these cactus orchids! This is a time-lapse of the blooms opening. The flowers are bigger than my hand and smell amazing!
I also added another zone to my 1/2" and 1/4" drip irrigation system. I installed the entire system last year by myself and am constantly adding more zones to it because I keep adding more garden beds! It sure is nice not to have the chore of watering by hand anymore.

I am hoping to one day have a bloom on my Epiphyllum oxypetalum. I wouldn't have one in the house they seem to be such awkward plants but it was one of the first plants I got to grow in my GH I figure out there we can find a good space for it and it is growing nicely. I will move it outside this summer.
