Don't worry, Annette. If there is no drainage issue, I believe your tree peony is fine. Just give it sometime. If you have the peony planted deeply enough, the tree peony will send up new stems to replace the old ones. I have seen this happens with some of my tree peonies. Some trees just take longer to wake up.

Don't worry. Last year we had a horrible ice storm. Several huge poplar branches felt on my Kinkaku tree peony and broke it to the ground, but the tree peony just sent new growth when the growing season started. It is not yet that big as it used to be, but it will recover.

It is still very cold here in Toronto, Ontario. I've just cleaned a bit and pruned my tree peonies, but they haven't started yet. Several buds were damaged by frost in the fall. The weather was strange (cold and then mild) so High Noon started a new cycle in the fall. When the real winter started the new buds got frozen.

I cannot wait to see the tree peony started opening, particulalry Rockii and Gardian of the Monestary.

As per garden peonies, I got several on sales last year; some of them were NOID. I was just rushing to put them in the ground. I forgot how many I bought and where I planted them. Smiling Hope they will surprise me with their little "hands" - Peony buds always remind me of little hands. Hope you will help me ID Smiling them.

We'll do what we can to help you name your NOIDs, hopefully they'll be distinctive! There are so many varieties. Make sure you take pictures of the leaves, stems and note if there are side buds as well as when they flower. Were they sold as generic "pink/red/white" or were they just label-less from being late in the buying season? If they had names earlier in the season your nursery's buyer might be able to give the varieties they had last year to narrow your search. Looking forward to seeing the pictures!

Still no sign of mine but Shooting Star's are growing almost a full month early. 2010 was the last time they started growing this early so perhaps everyone else will follow suit. Hope so. Really anxious to see those peony pips. I watch Rosellette and PInk Hawaiin Coral closely as they are usually the first two out. They get full sun almost from the get go. Poor fernleaf is in a bad spot, though it has grown and has increases like crazy and lots of flowers. Just doesn't get that much sun in the very early spring. Might consider moving it but if we get our new property I will have to move it again so decided to leave it so it is only disturbed once. Could put it into a pot maybe?

Was worried when I was seeing posts that gardeners in same zone as I were seeing so many pips but this week I see my Sarah Bernhardt and Madame de Verneville are truly sending up pips in earnest. One more small frost this weekend then I think we have spring for real. Madame has not bloomed for me yet but I'll bet this second spring she will flower.

I'm looking forward to my tree peony, Hana-kisoi. Her first year in ground and showing buds. It's a little blurry because my phone camera doesn't like to focus on narrow things. But you get the idea.

I love all my peonies and wait in anticipation to see them bloom. Smiling The one I have the most anticipation for is The Mackinac Grand or who ever is blooming at that time. Smiling

Oh, I will squeal if I get first year blooms on that beauty! It has big, fat pips just ready to emerge...yes, I had to peek under the mulch!

Pink Hawaiian Coral and Coral Charm are looking really strong now in their 2nd year, I'm excited to see those bloom.

Neal, PHC is super beautiful! It has different color stages and the flower is lovely in every stage.

Celia, I agree . I often do that myself during bloom season.

I'm excited to see my pink noid bloom, it's always the 1st peony to have flowers each spring, and I'm already seeing color on the buds Hurray! Raspberry Charm is not far behind.

Great looking plants, Annette!

Karen, PHC is a great one! I got to see a couple of blooms on it last year, its first spring. They were short, but well formed.

Thanks Neal!

My PHC from Fina Gardens, planted last fall, has a bud. I'm not sure what the newly planted PHC from Pikes will do, it's full of stems, but I haven't checked it to see if buds are present.

I gave my newly planted peonies some Neptune's Fish and Seaweed fertilizer. I got this ideas from Cricket Hill. It will be interesting to see if I can keep this up every 2-3 weeks like they recommend😳
