I grow mine on trellis' or an obelisk mostly. I suppose I could even grow them on netting between posts the way I grow my veggies like cucumbers.

I grow them isolated in 1 to 3 gallon pots. I don't do anything special in growing them.

I have two arbors so some go in pots against the posts. I always have morning glory on my fence and on the posts on my shed porch.
I like trellises and I have a few obelisks sitting around in different spots for them. Up the chicken wire around the chicken coup too.

Our two (we have four total) Honeysuckle vines, very well established, growing up the gazebo that hides our propane tank. these vines were here ten years ago when we moved in and they were plenty established then. we cut them down every two years to keep them manageable and they always come back like gangbusters!!

I grow my annual vines on a fence I put up in spring and take down in fall. I work up the amended soil every spring. The plot is 100' x 100'. I drive 6' metal cattle fence posts in the ground 10' apart in a 100 foot row. I string poly baler twine horizontally at 1' high, 3' high & 5' high. I then drape fruit tree netting from the top line of twine and anchor it here and there to keep it in place. Here is a picture of hyacinth vine on the trellis.

I like that Kathy .. since you said you drive the posts in the ground I'm thinking you don't have them set in concrete .. do you have any problems with the post sagging from the weight of the vines?

So far no sagging, that baler twine is strong, I've been re-using it for 22 years. The fruit tree netting helps me direct the vines to be more uniform [must buy new each year]. I forgot to mention, before driving the stakes I lay 4 mil black plastic on the row and tuck the sides of the plastic in the soil. Very few weed issues. The row is north south, taking advantage of sun exposure. Row spacing is on 6' centers, allowing a generous allowance for rototilling. The 100' row of zinnias next to the trellis row made a neat companion row. Walking through at dusk was a favorite time of day. You feel your plants' embrace.
Other annuals in this garden are wildlife beneficial-two rows of black oiler sun flowers, cosmos, Mexican sun flowers, wildflower mix. I grow two rows of Pontiac Red potatoes, and a row of carrots, a few tomatoes, sweet red peppers, and gladiolus. We are rural, I know the animals visit, I see their tracks. They are very polite and share the bounty with me.

Nothing fancy for me as well for my two vines. With our mild winters, they can be left outdoors.

My Mandevilla uses tomato stakes and is such an escape artist, it has now managed to twine some vine in one of my hanging containers. But I know it will slow down in growth come winter time, so I will have to do some pruning.

My Passie uses those wooden trellis commonly found at Home Depot, it is in its first year here, so I want to observe first how it endures our long dry months, so far it did well. Now heading into the cooler period to winter, will see how it goes once the wet winter weather returns and occasional hard freeze warnings during winter.

Tarev, I grew my passies next to a south facing brick wall and even with a hard freeze they kept going with new growth through the winter! I'm thinking the brick wall was probably releasing heat at night after collecting it in the day time.

Oh, that is good to know Anne! I do wish I have a nice brick wall here. Hopefully when the city trees are going dormant for winter, my Passie will get a bit more sun!
