Fennel can be invasive here.. The purple can look so beautiful though..

Philip, Wow!

Cool stuff. I've always been a big fan of a slow grow but there's clearly a lot (good) to be said for going another direction. Impressive blooms of so many varieties, cheers to your efforts, it's working!

Hurray!

Thanks Folks,
I keep the candle burning until very late in the morning as i have always only slept for five hours so four in the morning is the usual of late,..i rise at nine,..however if i have to be somewhere next day i go to bed around three and rise at eight.

Plants that are invasive in the USA and grown here seldom perform the same way here,..the Purple Fennel will drop seeds but i have to search come spring for those wee seedlings as they would be dwarfed by my taller plants and die.

At last i found the name of the Sedum growing from my gutter and in my back wall.

Attracts Butterflies,..Deer resistant,..Origin Asia,..produces white flowers,..drought tolerant.

Sedum,..(Sedum album,'Green Ice'.)

Thank you Debra,..the Geraniums are mixed so it will be nice to see what blooms,..ah yes the Cowslip is a pretty little flower.

Hi Neal,..i had a few projects,..made an extra opening into the main garden area and divided the main area by adding a flower area right through the middle,..i wont know how it looks until everything grows,..i must take more cuttings of that red Wallflower it produces more blooms than the others,..secret is not to fertilize them.

Are the red wallflowers biennial for you? I grew them once from seed and loved them- the 2nd year they were gorgeous, but none returned after that. You propagate them with cuttings? I didn't know that was an option- I would like that better than seeds, being able to choose the colors to clone.

Hi Neal,
The two red ones are classed like the other three as biennial,..however its the reds that have come back every year with no loss of blooms or scent,..they have a beautiful strong scent,..so far i have only cropped them back each year,..as for the others they will die back and become leggy with hardly many blooms so those i have to take cuttings from and re start but i take the cuttings at the end of summer so they are mature come April,..yes i agree cuttings are easier than seeds where these are concerned.

You may think it odd but i was thinking of you today,..you mentioned in your previous post that the Wallflower in the tall container was gorgeous,..today i noticed the container blooms are a lighter color than those against the wall,..i never noticed this before and kept checking,..it wasn't the light lol.

I enjoy seeing various plants grown in containers, where it displays qualities of the plant that may otherwise go unnoticed in the ground.

I do tend to pay more attention to my container plants as they dry out faster and i have a lot of containers,.. my Lilies/Phygelius/Pineapple Sage/Mints/Tigridia Pavonia/Hydrangea/Orchids plus a few roses,..sometimes i have to move them due to the much taller plants dwarfing them but they are all thriving thankfully,..space is limited in my Cottage Garden,..and the Cottage Sighing!

Using lots of containers is a smart move for small gardens, nice to be able to shift them around to suite their needs without disturbing roots and I like placing them where perennials have either finished or haven't bloomed yet. That's how I use a lot of my potted tender bulbs. Hmmm...speaking of which, guess its about time to start putting some of those outside!

I have one container which was for a Banana Plant,..the plant got too big when taken in over winter so i swapped the plant for other plants but kept the container,..when full it weights 7 stone,..didn't do my back any favors by lifting it,..its now going to house a rose bush.

Ah yes that Pinapple Sage has a nice scent and pretty red blooms,..also called Tangerine Sage.
