Celebrating Gardening: 2015
there are various species of red maple trees here...... some put out keys or seeds and some do not........
I was told by an arborist that was here ......he wanted to trim my yellow popular tulip tree but since the MNR here is coming to get the bees in the springtime and the tree is growing way of out of its zone although it does grow in a few places in Ontario but was planted here about 80 plus years ago. it did not bloom until it was 45 apparently......
they would like me to try to grow and cultivate some small trees......from the seeds. they figure if the tree only grows up here in zone 6b or more and I am zone 5 that maybe the seeds would be hardy enough and changed enough to the environment that they could start some natural yellow poplars here.........
I know way off topic........
they have both male and female flowers on it and apparently it had 700 tulips a few years ago.......both the bumble bee and the honey bees like it .....in particular the queens....... will see when it blooms this year....they are saying around the end of May.

as for the nepalense I think that I will be build the queen......lol a palace of her own and give her ..her own garden with a overhang that can come up and down to cover the lilies for the winter with lots of much.........I am going to put the soil at 12 inches deep and add some good starting soil and some sand and some small pebbles for it. there is 3 of them .......... not sure when they bloom but they are guaranteed to bloom at least this year............. and next year it will be left to find out.......... the overhang will cover the entire garden of nepalense..... about 8 feet by 4 feet or so.........
