I picked out the two varieties because of the colorations. The other one is the 'Michii' and it will be bubble-gum pink. Those are starting to change to that pink color as well.

The reason it's so hard to lose weight when you get up in age is because your body and your fat have become good friends.
These pictures show a lot of plants, both 'Voodoo Doll' and 'Michii'. It is interesting that my largest plant and the ones that are "blooming/blushing" more are the mounted ones. The ones that are grouped together (threes) in a "window-box" or 1-2 gal. pots are twice as large as those in 4-6" pots. All these plants are exactly the same age. The last picture shows the flowering of the 'Voodoo Doll' but the picture was hard to get. The strong magenta simply overwhelms the camera's ability to pick up those flowers. That central, urn mound has tiny purple flowers. That mound with flowers is not present in any other plant yet.
It appears that the size of the pot will greatly influence the speed of growth/flowering and that bromeliads will actually grow best when mounted, at least for me. After all, they are "air-plants".

Wow, that's alot of Bromelaids, haha. Thanks for sharing pictures. That is interesting about the mounted/potted difference, but it does make sense, as you stated, they are "air plants" afterall. It is probably more natural for them to be mounted and despite growing in pots for our convenience, it's not how they'd grow in the wild, so it's not "like home."
Unfortunately it didn't open all the way. Looking closely, it appears damaged. At least there's plenty more where that came from.
Edit: Unless it bloomed last night when I was asleep? It looked like that this morning when I woke up and I noticed it poking out of the water last night. Ah well.
