Hi,
My name is Sarah. I just recently received an invitation to the Hosta Forum. Thanks! I haven't grown many Hostas, because until the trees grew big enough there was very little shade in our yard.
The pictures posted here are are absolutely lovely.

Hi my name is Marti and I live in Somerset, KY. I am brand new to Hosta's. At this time I have no hosta's. But I am putting in a garden that will run from full sun to partial shade to full shade on a 1/2 acre. This is what my property looks like right now and its all pasture grass and sticky red KY clay. I'm getting amendments delivered and a load of sand to mix into the soil. So this year I won't have a big garden as I want to let the amemdments break down good, but I will have some garden. I NEED COLOR! I NEED FLOWERS!! All I see around here is green lawns and green bushes. No one plants flowers. Just acres and acres of green lawns being mowed.

I've been looking at Hosta's in the catalogs, trying to decided where to start. Anyone have any suggestions on which Hostas I should start with? Or is it personal choice? Today I'm heading out on a plant rescue mission to Campbellville. A friend owns property there that he inherited when his friend died 2 years ago. His friend inherited it from his mother who had lived there for over 30 years. Anyway she had a garden with daylilies, Hostas, iris and OGR. The property is up for being cleared, the house torn down. I'm going down and see if I can rescue anything. If I can and the hostas are there, I guess I'll have my first hostas.

So will leave here about 9 am and head down. I've never seen the area so will take my camera and enjoy the day.

Mary - be sure to start a thread in Gardens and Tours. We can help with ideas. Also the ID thread for individual hosta shots. If we know they are older nor newer varieties or anything else, we can help identify at least some of them for you. How exciting to clear a garden and use them again. Lots of work, but a nice find.

Welcome Sarah and Mary. I was going to suggest the same as above - start a discussion thread. We want to keep this one just for introductions.

Hi, Jen here, thanks for the invite AlwaysWeeding! I have a smaller collection compared to alot of you, but its slowly growing! Have plans for a new hosta area this spring. We have a wooded area out back with some very large maple and walnut trees. Have been dreaming of turning that area into a hosta bed since we moved in and am really hoping to do that this year. Always eager to learn and share what little knowledge I may have!

Hi everyone ~ I'm Moby. I have very little shade so I have mostly little hostas in my fairy/gnome garden.

Sorry, this is the best pic I can find at the moment
