Thanks for the great information and photos Brad! I'm so sorry you had to deal with this last year. I sure hope most of it is gone! It makes my stomach knot up just looking at the rotted bulbs! You must have been sick over losing so many! It will be interesting to hear how the Pagent and Terraclor 400 work for you. From your description it sounds like Botrytis is not a problem (or at least less of one) out here in California...but I'm sure there are a lot of people who will benefit from your thorough documentation. ...and who knows, maybe Pagent and/or Terraclor 400 work on other kinds of fungal rot?

Usefull information. We can all learn from your experience.

Good to know the names of the funguscide. We won't know if there are problems like that until the snow melts. An article for iris publications if it works? All of us are vulnerable to that sort of problem.

I just finished cleaning up bed number 3, 8 more to go. I found a few with the above type of problem to the mother rhizome, and 1 that looks like it's toast. Sad Strawberry Shake, It's my second try at that one. The rhizome is firm yet, but no increases at all, and the fan looks rotted. I'm hoping it might just send one out yet this spring. The one I planted the year before had like 5 or 6 increases going into winter. Then it got rot and every one of the babies died too. Last summer this one just kind of sat there, not doing much, no increases at all. It felt good to be in the garden though! It's just under 60 today, partly cloudy and kind of windy.

Sounds like it was a great day to be out working in the garden! Hurray! So sorry about your iris losses. That's always discouraging. Thumbs down

Mariyln... Thanks it was a frustrating year but now behind me and looking forward to this spring I have found that every year brings it's own set of challenges in the garden but it certainly helps knowing what to do when something goes wrong I think what bothered me worst last year was not knowing how to fix it and watching it all go bad slowly. Hopefully Pagent is the answer will find out soon I almost got all the berms cleaned out this weekend so will start spraying next week.

Tom... Sounds like we have the same weather it is awesome to work outside again forecast says 82 tomm that will really wake everything up and get it growing.

We were at the Carmel house today.. I've been trying to get ahead of the weeds there.. We're hardly ever there, and there's no gardener anymore Blinking Dave has finally decided to rent it out, so we've been tidying and culling stuff...

Hang in there Lucy. I know you have had a really long and depressing winter...but it won't be much longer now. Your area is a little behind ....but spring is coming. In a few more weeks you should see some real evidence that spring had broken the back of this grueling winter and your plants will begin to quicken and grow. We are all rooting for you! Group hug

I have another other iris disease that I'm afraid that there isn't a cure for. Sad

I'm addicted to irises... Sighing!

Here's the cure for iris addiction. When you see an iris you want to buy, take three deep breaths. Sit and put your head between your knees and squeeze your head. Then order the iris, you diserve it for going through the pain. Smiling If you can't get your head between your knees, then buy the iris to keep you self from getting depressed. Hilarious! it's win win!

I like how you think Tom! I would add one slight modification...I would skip the part about messing around with my head between my knees and just get straight to the part where I buy the iris!!! Hilarious! Hilarious! I see no reason for pain... So it goes like this....take a three deep breaths and then buy the iris in order to avoid the pain and/or depression!! (I like to keep it simple!)
