Jeanne,
That work is impressive. I can't imagine all the work that went into them. They look great! I didn't know their popularity had gone away until I wanted one.

But, Jolana, I'm not about to make them to trade or sell! My work will always be too basic for that! My Dad did an aluminum chair that way. He was a navy man and could do knots really well. I wish we'd have protected that chair, but... He wouldn't have called it macrame, though Smiling

That's funny about your Dad and I would bet with you, he wouldn't have called it Macramé, nodding

Thanks Donald, Jolana, and Lynn. I really enjoyed making things for others. I wanted to do an aluminum chair once but never did.

Donald, I will look through my books sometime and see if there are any pictures or directions for making the simple plant hangers. Might not be for a while. I have a busy weekend coming up.

Fabulous work Jeanne!

Donald, boy, are you brave, just jumping in like this! I hope you checked out that eBay link.
I used to make macrame plant hangers also. I don't remember how to do the measurements between knots either. I USED to have a craft book that did tell you how to do it for any size pot. Alas, I don't remember the name of it.
I know you said you want to keep your designs simple, but take a look at Jeannes' designs again, they are very sturdy as well as being beautiful!
You have big containers! You need a
bigger knotted "cradle" to hold your pots safely. I guess what I'm trying to say is, try to run down some old macrame craftbooks. There were a lot of books that specialized in just plant hangers. There is a bead store called Shipwreck beads that had a stash of old macrame craftbooks from the seventies everything from jewelry to wall hangings to plant hangers. It might be worth your while to check it out.
Keep us posted on your endeavours!
