For anyone who hasn't seen an Agave bloom, they look like giant asparagus.. I have a few on the cottage property down by the mailboxes... When one of them bloomed, someone came and cut the stalk... I thought it was a very strange thing to do... but recently I was at a party, where the homeowner is a fine woodworker. He had several surfboards hanging from the ceiling that were museum pieces made from exotic woods. One was agave, which they get from the stalk...

I wonder if agave is light like balsa wood? Who would have thought? When they cut the stalk was it 'green' or dried?

Funny that people think they can just do that. I have seen agaves in bloom and I like them.

Here's Michigan Pride, I don't think they are the same. Different shape and beard.

May Magic is way more pink.
The light blue could be very old, definetly before the 2000s.

I have a few irises that have been donated to me over the last couple of years and have no idea what varieties they are. Someone over on the "Orchids" forum thought the yellow one was 'Flavescens' and thought the purple one might be 'Rosalie Figge'. Now that I am on the "Iris" forum, with true experts, can anyone help me with names?

Thanks, Mary Ann. I kind of hang around the tropical plants, orchids, plumeria, and greenhouse forums.

Thank You! I'm afraid I won't have much to offer. I grow tropical plants but not much in the way of landscape plants.

The stems are about 3' tall with multiple inflorescence borne sub-stems (I don't know what in the heck they are called Sticking tongue out ). No purple. Oh well, I guess all I have will simply remain NOIDS. Thanks, Arlyn.

Ken, you might take a look at 'Happy Days' for your yellow. There's often some spotting on the falls, which I think I see on yours. Welcome!
