Great photos Tee. Is that Sedum 'Chocolate Ball' in the strainer. What a great use, that should have really good drainage. Whistling

I just spotted this thread.
Wonderful containers.I loved the clever use of succulents with the hippo.
Sewer tiles were a great idea too. My containers are from HD,Kmart,BigLots,Christmas Tree Shoppe.I have a GF who is a sculpture who made a ceramic container for me. I store it in the garage for winter.
Its planted with terinnias, looks like a half moon ,bottom center.

A few wire baskets, and a little plastic "trunk". I lined these containers with weed barrier cloth.

I have to admit, I am not very creative anymore but I do have a couple of wacky/weird plant containers. Nothing fancy or pretty but they do serve the purpose of holding plants! I've had the old cloth purse planted up with numerous plants over the past fifteen years or so and the shoe and old tin colander ideas I got from folks over at cubits.org. These all used to be hanging in a tree in the backyard but squirrels would tear them up so I moved them into the screened deck area.

Lee Anne: That is a very cleaver and really pretty planter!

Lynn: Gee, I had a little swan identical to that years ago ... what a great idea, that makes such a lovely planter! I wish I had thought about doing something like that before mine went to the thrift store. I am sooo not a creative thinker ... it takes seeing y'all's wonderful ideas to get me thinking of re-purposing! hmm ... I have a couple of boxes to go to the thrift store soon, maybe I should dig back through them before putting them in the trunk of my car? Big Grin

Lin I am fascinated by your cloth bag planter. How do you keep it looking so clean? What a great idea, will you share with us how you set things up inside the bag?
I have to make myself really look at things for awhile before deciding if they can be used as planters. The piece of old iron pipe was one of them. Rolling on the floor laughing

When the weather gets really hot here I have to move the swan into more shade.

Lee Anne I love your free standing fire place, it looks wonderful filled with plants. Your neighbors are probably wishing they had one. : )

Hi there Marylyn. Do you have something unusual to show us? I love seeing how peoples minds come up with such great ideas, that's what gets me to thinking about what I have that would make a plant container. Thumbs up

I have absolutely nothing unusual at all! I only have 2 containers, and they are both really boring. Thumbs down But after watching this thread and the fun threads in the Garden Art forum, I can feel the need for something new SOON!! Hilarious!

Lynn: The cloth purse hasn't been washed in a long while but the outside seems to stay clean ... it hangs on a covered deck and I spray with a hose to water the plant. The Syngonium (Arrowhead Plant) in the purse froze this past winter so I need to plant something else in there, just haven't decided what yet. When I dump out the soil and dead roots I might throw it in the washer on gentle cycle before replanting and since the inside is a pretty dark pink flower print I may turn it inside out just for a change, haven't decided for sure about that yet. To plant it, I just put in the potting medium to a certain level, add the plant and top off with additional potting medium.

Chris: I love all your baskets too ... I used to line wicker baskets with sheet moss and plant them up but they seemed to rot quickly in the humidity down here. I have a few old baskets out in the shed that I might have to plant up for however long they will last!

Hurray! Hurray! Marylyn I can't wait to see what you create. Hurray!

Lin I want some clothes made from that material. I'd never have to buy gardening cloths again. Now I'm going to go through my purse cubboard, I know I have a couple of old cloth purses in it.
