Laurie, I still have to bring these inside for winter. I had never seen a Callisia (in OH) until moving to AL. But I'm not sure that's the factor, I've gotten the ones I have in trade.

Same here they come inside in the winter. I do not think you can kill callisia. It can be put in a corner all winter no water and it will survive

Cinta, you're right about that. One year I had a cutting that fell behind a large pot that was overwintering in the garage and was forgotten until I found it the following spring. It was a little desicicated, but still green and alive. So I planted it, and it has thrived very well. nodding

Ok, I can't wait to try one now. Perhaps I am confusing this plant with something else. It's been a very long time since I cared for plants for any length of time. I really appreciate all the info. It makes me try things I am a little afraid of. Thank you one and all. Your ladies are the bestests.

Tree mail me your addy and I will stick some cuttings in a padded envelope. It does not need a box it will not die.
if you want to see it check this out. The one that is purple is what mine did a couple years ago when I put it outside under a table. I do not know if it turned all purple because of the deep shade or it was trying to match the plants in the pot.

Brought this pot in today. It's a flashy, fanciful festival of variegation.

Beautiful tiffany..... Lovey dubby Lovey dubby
I have not brought any plants in yet. I guess I should start. We went down in the low 40s yesterday. I usually do not start until middle of Nov and I am rushing because it is a frost coming.

Yikes! That ornery Jack Frost. Callisias won't mind 40's but a frost will funkify foliage. You're probably not interested in enduring a recovery period. I see that was yesterday. Hope all went well overnight!

we're looking at below 40 degrees tomorrow night. Down to the wire. I will have everything in except some succulents next to the house may stay out.

I thought you guys were talking about the inch plant, Callisia something, with little tiny fleshy leaves on juicy stems? That was a cute little plant I had and loved awhile.
Plant it and they will come.

That plant, C. repens, seems a bit more hardy, reliable in Z8, and is kind of a nuisance here, as C. fragrans would be if normal winters didn't cull the excess.

It was 35 last night and I have not moved anything yet. I let my coleus be my guide. If a coleus look sad I lnow I am pushing it. I am going to start moving stuff this weekend. It is suppose to stay 40s at night and 60-70s through the day.

Most of the succulents are good down to 30. It helps them to bloom if I leave them out and get the chill. I already have some buds on my Jade plants.

We are suppose to hit 30s tonight so I am doing my usual dash. I wish I would move early. It seems something always gets in the way and I do not get to it until I am in a mad dash.

The same here. When will we ever learn to be prepared for the unexpected? D'Oh! We've already had some light frosts here, but we have a freeze advisory tonight. Blinking Grumbling All tenders must be under shelter. I've gotta run. Sighing! May everyone's plants stay safe and comfy. nodding

Here in my part of Florida, we're finally having some very pleasant fall-like weather and I finally got to open all the widows to enjoy the cooler temps. High's around 80ยบF during the day and low's at night around 60ยบF. Hurray!
