My sister bought some Miracle Grow potting soil cheap at Lowes. It was terrible. She started reading online and found that she wasn't alone. And they knew about the problem last year and are still selling it this year. Beware.
Well, I said goodbye to Ringo yesterday. There was nothing wrong with him, we just "parted ways" and someone bought the last one of him last night. I'm sure he will be happier where someone loves him. Now if I could just convince myself to do that with about a hundred more, I'd be in good shape.
Politicians are like diapers, they need to be changed often, and for the same reason.
Some of my irises have been potted while we were "between houses" due to a sale before a purchase. These sat in Maryland at my daughter's place for 6 or so weeks, including all of June where they set a rainfall record for the month. About 1.5-2" every other day all month did not allow the pots to dry out even though in direct sun for 5-6 hours per day. So losses occurred which I am now beginning to inventory:
Crystal Beauty
Moonlight Madonna
Fire Brigade, a very rare Schreiner one
Moonlight Serenade
Condottiere
Jeanne d'Arc
King Christian
Dorothea
Plurabelle
Henri Riviere
Tristram
Zebulon
Snow Velvet
Master Charles
Chenedolle
Imperial Blush
and Cours la Reine is trying to survive with 2 short white roots.
Some others are unaccounted for as of yet so losses may increase! I do have replacements coming for some already, but won't replace them all. Moving can be frustrating!
I sent you a t-mail, Dave . I just noticed, today, that Nashborough is looking REAL sad....sounds like your Cours Le Reine...just one tiny area, with a couple active roots............so I'm betting it's a goner.

Unfortunately, the only 'potting soil' you'll find at Lowe's and Home Depot are MiracleGro products.
It's unbelievable!
A gal on one of the facebook iris groups uses Serenade to combat fungal and bacterial problems. It is not an icky chemical. It is a good bacteria that eats the naughty organisms. I think I will get some concentrate and spray it around the garden. She says it prevents leaf spot too. My mallows got spots from being too close to the Bouncing Bets. I don't think it is the same kind though, looks more like apple rust.
