Yes Rolling on the floor laughing I could do Raised beds on platforms! That would be ideal, and put them out on the lawn, then the lawn would not have to be mowed, cuz you wouldn't see the grass at all ! Rolling on the floor laughing

I really have to admit, that we are a very creative and innovative bunch of people here - we are always creating new ways to grow Iris. We are fortunate to have one another Lovey dubby Smiling

The nice thing is that for many of us Iris blooming season has passed, yet we continue to post and create really terrific topics to talk about with one another on a daily basis! I'm sure it will continue all year well thru the Winter! I can't wait Thumbs up

Winter is the crazy season. When catalogues come, the ensuing drooling endangers those with whom we live! Rolling on the floor laughing

How do I ensure a supply of catalogues? I get Brecks but have only heard negative vibes about them.

I get the Breck's catalog, infact, I think I just got one last week. But I have never purchased anything from them. I use Bluestone Perennials, and B & D Lilies for my lily bulbs, and ForestFarm for some nice species Iris.

Cleta, go online to any of the iris vendors and request a catalog. If you order irises from them you are automatically sent a catalog. Some charge a small fee for a catalog but it is well worth it.

I've said it before, I stay away from Breck's. They are NOT a good source from which to buy quality plants. I stick with vendors who have a good reputation and good customer service and support.

Some of those companies are fine for ordering other plants -- tulips, daffs, lilies, etc.

But for Iris -- spend your money with the Iris specialists!!

Patrick - DVIS (Delaware Valley Iris Society) has their annual sale in mid July at the Jenkin's Arboretum. It is a very large sale with most rhizomes selling for $3 each.

Our region only has three societies in it as the Delaware one (Diamond State) recently disbanded. There was one in the Pittsburgh area, but they are more of a daylily society than irises and they are no longer listed by the AIS.

You will notice that there is one in New Jersey.

You WILL like/love Lovey dubby Cardinal Rule. It looks so much better in person than in photos; and it takes good photos to boot!
