No Cinda, they don't eat the leaves but the larvae do infect the carots.

I think the method Caroline is using is wise and effective to confuse them, so preventing having to use harmful pesticides.

Delayed timing helps, I think. If I start my carrots later than normal I usually don't have a lot of damage. I suppose using a brand new soil mix would help too, but I haven't been prepared to go that far yet. Whistling

Late to the group.

Love it!

It is fragrant. Great garden plant, great cut flower, and when the seed pods form, great dried flower for arrangements.

My only problem is keeping helpers from pulling the first year base as a weed!

Certainly not a weed here. A welcome 'wild flower'!

I love QAL. Interesting in winter too. This pic was taken by my daughter on 2-12-12.

I agree
I am a strong believer in the simple fact is that what matters in this life is how we treat others. I think that's what living is all about. Not what I've done in my life but how I've treated others. ~~ Sharon Brown

Ami Majus has larger petals on the outside flowers. Bloom is on shorter stems, so it looks less weedy.

That's pretty. It does look short; estimated height of yours? Does it self-seed?

How can you tell the difference between QAL & Mock Bishop's Weed(Ammi Majus)??? I see white flowers growing in open fields in NE Tarrant County & along some of the roads locally but not sure which it is??? Is Mock Bishop's Weed a host for Black Swallowtails like QAL??? Is QAL a native or introduced?
Lots of questions!!! Confused
Thanks, Lila
Take care,

It's the original carrot, so I'd assume it was used both ways, as are its children.
