I need to do that with my newbies, too. But I think I will wait til I can type with both hands. On a good note, my hubby said he is not going to replace the 2 trees that died. He offered me the space for iris so I am looking for trades next year.

Ditto, Sherry. To both Arlyn's story and a dad who died so long ago.

Whew! I am almost ready to start planning for the rest of this year! This weekend I will attend to the Louisiana beds. They need some compost and mulch. Want everything ready for the September arrivals of LA's. Hurray!

Anyone ever order from Breck's. I got a new shiny catalog from them in the mail today. Great iris pictures along with other plants and bulbs.

Don't do it Teresa -- I've heard so many complaints about people not getting the Irises that they ordered, or that they were small or dried out rhizomes. Spend your Iris money with Iris people.............

Yes, I agree with Mary Ann. buy irises from iris specialists. They know what they are growing and if you have a problem with their product they will resolve it. I have gotten other 'wrong' plants from plant mail order companies. If you are going to spend a bit make sure you do so with a company that invests its time and reputation in the product or service you are buying..... unless you want a grab bag iris and do not care what color or type it is.

The real iris dealers cost less than Breck's and send better iris.

Last year I got Breck's reblooming iris mix, a hosta super sack and some free daffodils. The rhizomes looked okay, but they were not the same ones in the online ad, nor were they itemized by name in the email. I am not sure if any of them bloomed this year. The hosta were a pile of slimy roots in a bag with no greenery sticking out of the bag. I called customer service and was refunded the money with no problem. The daffodils were very nice.

I dunno if any of those hosta roots made a plant. Maybe, but my son put some hosta in the same area, so I don't know. The slimy roots certainly did not make a super sack full of hosta! I was glad their customer service was easy to deal with and I had been refunded.

If you get a really good deal, their daffs are probably fine.

I bought some sort of perennial from them years ago.. It was not cheap and I got a tiny little nub with a couple of roots. Live and learn... look at the pretty pictures and order from someone else.

My 2 cents with everyone else.

There are too many good iris dealers in the US & Canada to messing around with the likes of "Breaks". Stay away.
