Kudos with the L. matangense! I can't say for sure, but I get the feeling that the form is a bit off from what it should be if it was more mature. Hopefully, you will get it to bloom next year. My seedlings are limping along. At this rate they will take another 3 years...LOL, if they survive. I'll be replanting this fall. I think the soil is too heavy.

I love the form of Nomocharis, but the spots, not so much. Pardanthina is yet another animal. Haven't decided if I like that one or not. Whistling

I have two or three Nomocharis aperta or forrestii seedlings. They just languish here. Too hot in the summer. (This Friday and Saturday it's suppose to get to 90F already!) Actually, last fall I was going to give them to a friend who lives in northern Wisconsin (it's colder up there, but the ground stays warmer due to lake effect snowfall). But when he visited me, I couldn't find them among all my pots! *Blush* But I saw them this spring, so I didn't lose them. Green Grin! Both the SRGC and NARGS don't know enough or don't have time enough to sort out viable lily, frit, or nomocharis seed. Sometimes the donor will candle them first, but usually I am lucky if I get one or two good looking seeds in a packet. But the few I have came from them (!)

I'm not sure what's going to happen with the SRGC seed ex this year. I usually donate and order seed. Remember, they are not part of the EU anymore, so those new restrictions don't apply, I don't think.

Steve2020 said:More pics of species! I hope that you don't mind me posting these of Nomocharis aperta. This is a very closely related genus to lilies, with one of the more obvious differences being the flowers being more shallow or sometimes flat. They come from montane regions of western China, Myanmar, and northern India, a location similar to L. mackliniae. I think they are the prettiest flowers I have ever grown.

Nicely grown, Steve.

No problems whatsoever posting photos of them. The Nomocharis genus was merged into Lilium a few years ago, so N. aperta is now Lily (Lilium apertum).

I am not fan of nomocharis. They look nice but nothing spectacular to me. Shrug!

Still in a pot with all the seedlings together, this is the second year bloom for Lilium dauricum ex Greater Khingan Mountains. It still shows the woolly "turtleneck" just below the tepals, and abruptly ends at the first leaf.

but this year an added characteristic: little white tufts at the ends of the tepals. They seem more prominent that what I could get a photo to show.
