I was trying to figure out how to get the solar blanket over the GH. I found an easier way by using a leaf blower to "float" the whole thing over the GH. By shooting air under the cover I could shift it where I wanted without it catching on everything.
My shade cloth however is on a roll since I only drape it from the bottom of the vents down.

I tie the corners of the solar blanket material with a rope, throw the rope over the greenhouse roof(s), and simply pull the blanket over the greenhouse. My wife takes up the slack in the ropes while I feed the blanket up onto the roof. Once the blanket reaches the peak, it is quite easy to pull it on over the rest of the roof and then side.

I had a little trouble catching on the top and the "Rafters". The extra air worked real well.

It sounds like the solar cover installation is a two man job. I will stick with the bubble wrap (no pun intended) as I am a One-Man Show. Saving 20-30% would be pretty cool. Or hot in this case for our 2-3 mos of winter.

I find I have no patience for wallpapering bubble wrap. I do about 3-4 panels in an hour or so and that is all the motivation I can muster. But at least there are no patterns to match. Rolling on the floor laughing But finally the temps cooled down to 63 degrees and 70% humidity. No it's not a sunny day as @Ric recommended so I put extra soap squirts in the squirt bottle. Seemed to work. One roll down. Several more to go I imagine? sighhhh

I'd also like to insulate with bubble wrap especially for the winter, but my two round top greenhouses are made from Polyethylene Fabric so I'm not sure how it could be applied. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

One thought, if there was any way to stretch wire/cord from structure for each panel, possibly use that to hold it in place? Just a thought.

Thanks Ken, you mean the type that are used for pools? If not that do you have any links I can look at?

Yes, Chris. The solar blanket material is pool cover material. I just re-purposed it.

Thanks Ken, I see I can buy the material in bulk at a few places I'll have to look into that. A few more questions. I assume you have the clear? I assume also that I'd have to drape it over the outside of mine and then anchor it somehow. I think this is what I'll go with. I'm going to have to make sure it's big enough since my greenhouses are 10W X 13L X 8H - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B003TQMCMQ/

Chris, just measure one side from the roof ridge and then down the side to the ground. Double that measurement and you have your longest length x 13'. Then you'll need enough for the two ends and that should be 8'x10' x 2. I lined my two sliding doors with the solar material but did so inside. I also have a piece of material that will cover the entire width of those two doors (about 6') and keep it rolled up over the doors. When cold weather get here, I can simply allow that material to unroll, draping the doors for further protection. My doors face the north, so it keeps that extra-cold north wind off those doors to some extent.

My material is translucent. One cannot see into the greenhouses with any clarity. These pictures are several years old but you can see how I use aluminum wire to hold the material down. In the spring I simply remove the wiring and the material comes down easily.

Thanks for the photos Ken, I like your landscaping around them. I measured as you suggested and mine is 125' from the center beam down to the bottom X 2 which if I figured right come out to about 21' from one side to the other and 13' long. I figure the 16'x32' should work just fine. I have two doors on mine, one facing north and the other south. Think I'll cover the north end and leave the south uncovered and just zipped up as I always do in the winter time for access. How much of a temperature rise do you get inside using the covers?

I just got my solar blanket per Ken's recommendation. I won't put it on until the first of the year though since we will be gone for a bit and it will get too hot in the greenhouse without the vents and I won't be here to open the doors.

I am just over half done. This is taking awhile! The ceiling is tough on my neck and back. But cold weather is beckoning and I must get it done by the weekend and ready for plants. The clock is ticking!!

I finished the bubble wrap on the walls. I found a little extra soap made it stick really good. I have 1/4 of the ceiling done but might not finish as the plants that I bring in will go right up to the ceiling and probably tear it off. I wonder, will the sunlight come through all those bubbles enough to provide sunlight?? Some of my plants actually thrive and grow in the winter due to the great sunlight it gets.

I don't think it blocks that much light, but have heard others say they could wait a little longer to apply shade cloth in the spring.

Because our winter light quality is dreary, I try to wait until late Dec to put up the bubble wrap on the ceiling, trying to maximize available light. Or I might leave some sections uncovered where I've spotted some plants that need all the light they can get. I also hang reflective mylar emergency blankets on the east and west walls to bounce the light around. My north wall is the heated garage.

My NW wall has 1" foam board with the reflective mylar? My NE was has been replaced altogether, and is covered with bright white PVC panels like used in a shower. I plan to replace the NW with a attached shed.

Here's what I did with mine the other day with some Mylar insulation I bought at Lowe's and some metallic tape I had left over from when I used to work. It's definitely helped as all the openings on the N side are now covered. It's not real pretty but it does the job.
