Hi!!! Great Plants aren't they???!!! I'm a big fan of the deep Burgundy with saw green edges. I am in NJ and have dried out many many seed stalks from a wide variety of Coleus from plants I've had for years thru cuttings as well as plants bought at local nursaries.
I am astounded at the progress and percentage of germinations I've gotten through seed trays in my home since late January....using an indoor greenhouse and picture window. I also have many cuttings rooting in jars which came from my outdoor summer collection. Looking forward to learning more here and from people such as yourself . Hurray! I'm all ears!

Looking good Kurt.. I don't like rooting in water because they don't transition well at times. . I have taken cuttings off water rooted and then rooted the new ones in soil.. for the years I was too busy in fall to stick each cutting it was a good time saver

Hello and Welcome! Jimmy.. nice to see a fellow NJ person. . Your baby's look wonderful.

Here is an indoor arrangement I made a week or two ago from a series of rootings. It seems to be doing well. Lots of new growth. I cannot wait until the warm weather is steady day & night as I will place this pot along with another one on my rear deck which gets a nice mixture of partial sun. I expect this to fill out nicely!!!

Any person who views my garden thinks it's a coleus wonderland! They cross, reseed, sprout and grow on their own. I have nothing to do with it except to select my favorites! Right now some are just sprouting in the beach sand that is my garden. In 2-3 weeks, I'll make notes and move the prettiest to obvious places. Obviously none are named!

Well, it really isn't a coleus garden, it's just invaded by coleus! When it gets light, I'll take pictures of some of the babies. They are just starting! The parents were Kongs as well as a couple of large leafed black with green edges. They have done a good job of creating their own beauty!

Last winter a lady stopped by while I was cleaning things in the front yard. She is from Wisconsin. She was simply appalled when she saw huge coleus plants in the black trash bag. I told her they are a pain but that wouldn't be the end of them! She described to me all of the efforts she makes to over winter them and just could understand how someone could toss them out. Funny!!!

Spring is slowly happening here. It started about 3 weeks ago, but new growth on colocasias, oak trees and other plants is very slow. That means it isn't warm enough to push them along. That's nice!

I have a lot of tall leggy cuttings still growing inside. May be down to near freezing tonight so will be awhile before they can head outside. I started a flat of cuttings from the tall ones a week or so ago, but think I may need to do it again soon. Brought up some canna bulbs out of the basement and planted them in pots. Also saved a nice enchanto begonia over winter in the basement and it is starting to put out leaves. Will be so happy to get all the plants out of my kitchen. Lots of sedums and other succulents. My cats have been napping on a few of the sedums so will be interesting to see if they recover.
