@Dutchlady1 Hetty, I'm afraid we HAVE to make the trip. We usually go down in July but was busy getting my cataracts done and then went to South Dakota stopping on the way to celebrate daughter's birthday in Iowa, which is a better alternative than going to Arizona!

Jean doesn't count as a snowbird. Heck, she has such a long history in this state that she should be an honorary native. Besides, Arkansans don't qualify as snowbirds.

Jean you can come to Florida anytime, it is good for our economy!

I wasn't born and raised in Fl, am a transplant but been here 10 years..and counting!

I hope nobody thinks I have something against the snowbirds. It's just that it is bittersweet every year to be looking forward to the cooler days AND having to come to the realization that we will once again have to share our paradise with MANY more people.

I just know in my line of work as an Analyst/underwriter we love the $$$ that the snowbirds and all tourists bring into our area. If they migrate for good, that is great too, they we'll help our economy become more stable in terms of home values, employment, etc.

Same here Ann but this morning I got lucky, it was drizzling but did not really rain until after lunch. So I was able to do a little gardening and weed pulling.

Ours began (we're guessing) around 5am and we got a 1 hour break between 8 & 9; just enough time to get to the grocery store, shop, & get back in the house before the sky opened up again.

Some good news in my neighborhood - it looks like the Air Potato Beetles found my neighbor's yard! I couldn't find any of the beetles, but you can see what they do to Air Potato.



Elephant's Foot is blooming now. The pollinators love this one.



My volunteer Pokeweed is getting bigger.



Passiflora 'Lavender Lady' isn't getting decimated by caterpillars. I did plant a lot more native Passifloras this year, so that may be why.



Skunk vine is blooming. Pull this invasive plant as fast as you can!



Grow some Tampa Vervain and get Tiger Swallowtails in your yard! It's an endangered plant; give it some help!



The Passiflora is growing on the Plumbago, but that's okay!

Very nice Melanie! Lucky you to have the Tampa Vervain growing in your garden, that plant is endemic to Florida and considered rare nowadays, due to habitat loss. Isn't it a shame there's not a critter that will eat the tubers of those danged air potatoes! You should add some of your photos to the database for Air Potato (Dioscorea bulbifera)
