Old & new potting mix in Reuse Potting Mix

Are you doing a lot of container gardening? The potting mixes always say you should use fresh mix each year, but here is a way to save a little money.

Do you mix the two together, or just put the new potting on top and leave it alone?

I just put the new on top. Remember I have made room by taking out some of the old.
