www.artwanted.com I have sold one small painting one time. www.webstore.com is a free selling site also. Used to sell more there than other places because I do not do e-bay for plants, art even.

@Drdawg - I realize this is not current but are you still looking to buy/sell orchids? I'm in a group on the dreaded Facebook. It's for Epiphyllum, Schlumbergera, Rhipsalidopsis and other close related epiphytic growing cacti. I know that's not what you're looking for but I can assure you that people in this group are incredibly honest and many sell or give away cuttings. I'm on there a lot and can ask about orchid growers & collectors. Ya never know.

Wow! I just looked at your website. Very nice. Didn't realize you have plumeria (know a lot of collectors) and bromeliads (ditto) and sometime I will ask you some specifics about Shampoo Ginger. Just not now. It's late, even for this night owl.

Yes, Joan, @tx_flower_child. My tiny tropical plant business is up and going and keeps me busier than I would like. I do occasionally post something for sale on FB. There are several orchid, plumeria, and addenium groups that I subscribe to there. I actually have some large, gorgeous Epi. that I got last year in a trade (cuttings). I have never posted them though, not even on my website.

Thank you for your kind words concerning my site. I will leave for Utah at 6:00 AM (football game) and will be without my computer until Saturday evening. I won't be able to respond for a couple of days.

The reason it's so hard to lose weight when you get up in age is because your body and your fat have become good friends.

Is it expensive to sell on Etsy? How does it compare with eBay?

You pay for listing items on ETSY. Depending on your "level" of your subscription on eBay, you get the first 50-200 listings free (but you pay a fee up front for listing that higher number of items) but pay when something sells. Each time an item sells, regardless of site, the payment will have about 3.5% taken out as a transaction fee, just like credit card companies do. You pay this fee, not the buyer. It is probably a wash as to which site is more expensive. They simply make their money in a different way. I will tell you that dealing with eBay sucks. They don't care a thing about the businesses/people listing their items. ETSY is more user friendly. Unfortunately, eBay has more exposure, simply because of their size.

Thank you, Ken, much appreciated.

Can one use this forum to directly sell seeds and plants, instead of referencing an external web shop?

Sure, Joseph. There is a "Classifieds and Group Buy" forum that can be used - FREE!

maybe etsy has changed or maybe it had to do with what i wanted to sell at the time, but i wasn't very happy with them.
had inquired about listing vintage items and they basically said they wanted proof. didn't have 'proof' other than my word for
it. at least i was polite and didn't tell them about the many items listed as 'vintage' that in no way could be considered old, vintage, or choose your adjective.
but that was then and this is now and y'all are talking about listing plants. so good luck, best wishes, and happy holidays!
and do let me know how things work out.

That is interesting, @tx_flower_child. Someone had posted previously about the same problem with ETSY. I know they do have a "vintage" category but have never listed anything in the category. I don't understand why they would ask for proof of an item's age. I know that eBay and Amazon don't do this. As you say, perhaps ETSY has rescinded that "show the proof".

Merry Christmas.
