Thankyou Hetty and Cinta. Any ideas on what the price should be? I always feel guilty for charging anything. I hate money. I must really mean that because my wallet is always empty Rolling on the floor laughing

Hard to give a suggestion without knowing the size but I know $ 35 would not be too much, and possibly more depending.
I feel the same way as you about charging money for something I like doing... Shrug!

Here are two I put together today. The bromeliad in the center can take full sun, is drought tolerant, and will be orange when it gets older. I think they will be fun pieces by next year when the brom has grown out to its full glory. I cut the euphorbias off of their grafted bottoms this spring and had not dug them out yet to see how big the roots were. Holy cow they were big and nice! I was pleasantly surprised by that. I have not been able to make an arrangement with them that showed them off very well, so I am kinda happy with these two. Plus I was able to use some shells that were collecting dust in the house and needed a new purpose.

Completely gorgeous! LOVE them!

Could you please offer a few more details about what you did with the tops after cutting them off? (Assuming callous for a day or 2, then sit on soil surface, but would rather just know for sure.) Considered getting one to do just that with before, but hesitant since they tend to be a bit more expensive. ...but if one considers it's actually 2 plants, that so much more easy to rationalize! :+)

What were your tops grafted to? What is the fate of those stumps?

@purpleinopp,
Sometimes Lowes has them on clearance (I regret not picking up a completely green one last year).

Audrey I love them. I agree they should go for at least 35.00. The euphorbias alone would be costly if they did not find them on sale plus you have to add in the pot and decor and your talent. Heck I now think you should charge even more.

I cannot part with my sea shells. They were collected from every trip I made to the tropical islands. I even have them with the photo albums that I put together after the vacation so I know where each one of my shell were collected. Hilarious! My poor daughter is going to have to part with alot of sentimental value only stuff. *Blush*

Yes Planto is right, I see them often for 1.00 to 5.00 at Lowes a lot. I have never been a fan of them because of the green root stock but if I can just pop that top off and it will grow on I will pick one up next time I see them.

I was only going to sell one of them and keep one, but I think I have changed my mind. They would make a killer duo on each side of the staircase going down to the garden from my new sunroom that will be started on in the next two weeks. Hurray! I have been growing these for about four years now, so they are a really nice size. I would have to charge more than I think I could get. Better off keeping them Green Grin!

I am not sure what the root stock was. It was the triangular green cactus with thorns. Might be another type of euphorbia, I am not sure. I hated them and the tops were getting to heavy to support them much longer. I tossed them on the ground and they died, but I am sure they would have lived and done fine if I was inclined to keep them and took care of them. They sit for several weeks and will deflate a lot before deciding it wants to grow its own roots. After a couple of days I just set them on top of the soil and let them sit for a week in shade before watering lightly. I had three that I chopped off the stock and then chopped in half the three, so now I have 6. I had one growing in sun up to sun down with no protection from the sun, one indoors, and the others with dappled light conditions and they have all done well. Very well. I was completely shocked when I started tugging on one to get it out of a pot and had to get a tool and water to pry that beautiful root system out.

Everything I have read says how slow they grow and need the stock, blah, blah, blah. Well, I can say that after 100% success with all my tries that this plant is much hardier than is given credit. It might also be because of how mature they were before trying it. When the first one worked I was no longer nervous about doing the others. I was really nervous about the first time. They have put on a couple of inches since growing on their own. I think it looks so much better than standing like a deformed loly pop and makes it easier to incorporate into a mixed planter. It is the first time I am really happy with them in a mixed planter. They are an interesting plant to look at, but I really do prefer a mix of fun stuff rather than specimen pots. I cant wait to see these planters mature in the sun next year.

Oh, and some parts of the bottom edges sitting on the soil did rot a little and I thought I was going to lose those that did that, but they turned out just fine. Also the pieces that revert back to normal growth that have to be cut off will root most of the time but need to be spritzed with water till roots form.

I picked up two new to me plants today. A peperomia dolabriformis and some lithops. Can they be grown together? I would like a third plant to live with them and I am stumped on what. Any ideas?

Lithrops from what I have read are difficult they want water only at certain times and no water other times and if they get water at the wrong time they die. I had one for about a year and I must have watered it when it was not suppose to get water and it died.

Peperomia the only thing I can tell you about them is keep them away from me. I have killed everyone I have had.

We were posting at the same time. Yes They do look good together. But of they don't what I have done is put the odd plant that wants a little different water on a small container inside the combo pot. The Lithrops would look cute in a little boat in that color pot. It reminds me of the ocean and the P. looks like a tree.

Cinta, they do look like little palm trees thay is why I bought them. I read about lithops and have always been a little scared of them but I am hopeful I can make this work. If not I am only out a couple of bucks and will know that this might not be the plant for me. I made very gritty soil and its tiny roots looked healthy so we'll see. I plan on using the water bottle spritz technique to keep it watered.

The scene looks like a tropical island scene. You need to put some sea shells in that pot too and add one of those little drink umbrellas. Rolling on the floor laughing

Ok wait wait... I just added my shell cactus I have been trying to find a good spot for. A friend of mine gave the cacti to me in a tiny glass vile and the minute I got It home I set it free in this little shell. Finally it has a respectable home. Sorry for quality of pics. I took all these by phone.

This isn't nearly as exciting or pretty as Audrey's planters ( Lovey dubby Drooling ), but I got around to repotting my new 'Blue Elf' and I found a pot I hope will work for me (I, Beth am an overwaterer. Hilarious! ) I wanted something different than a plain 'ol clay pot. I paid for for this decorative pot than I paid for the plant. Rolling on the floor laughing

Beth, I love it! I have a problem mentally and try to sustain a level of insanity when it comes to making pretty things. Rolling on the floor laughing I really like the blue saucer with it. I love blue pottery! Nothing wrong with plain terracotta either, it has a grace all on its own.

Audrey,
Thank You! I wish I still had the pot that came with that saucer. I think my Mother found it on Pottery Barn. I do like plain terra cotta, I was just looking for something a little more decorative this time around. I put my ZZ Plant in terra cotta too. I'm hoping to not kill anyone. Hilarious!

Good luck with the ZZ plant. I killed mine and wont look back. I would love to just live vicariously through yours when you share pics. I am starting to feel that way with my staghorn ferns. I think that is part of why I like pretty mixed pots. I enjoy their beauty and am more inclined to take notice of issues and better care.
